Default Subs?

I own a 1995 vanden plas that didnt have the premium sound package. i got curious and took a look behind the trunk and saw the cut out hole was there for the premium sound sub. i was wondering are the connection speaker wires there too. i saw some wires that were capped back there. Could these possibly be the speaker leads? i took some pic if that helps. also what is the size of the sub? Did the premium package come with an amp? thanks.

was there other wires you used to hook into the speakers? or did you have to run new wires?

I didn't do them myself, but I had a friend of mine do it who does this for a living and i watched. Basically you buy the 1200 Watt Amp cables and plug the blue wire into the back of the head unit (there's a video on YouTube on how to take it out) and plug that into your amp. Now if your planning on keeping your factory head unit like I did, you need to purchase an LOC (Line Out Converter $6 at BestBuy) and split the tweeter wires in the back and plug them into it. from there just plug in your amp cables into the LOC and then of course your subs into the Amp. Next, you use the brown ground cable and attach one end to the amp and the other end to the screw on the ceiling of the trunk where the factory CD changer would be. FInally, you attach the red power cable to the battery and then into the amp and your all set. Approx. time from start to finish 5-7 hours but soo worth it.

hey chavid, i don't have premium sound or a cd player in my car but I do have those wires. I do not believe they are for speakers but I guess it's possible. If you find anything out let me know.

The reason i thought it was a possibility was because they were caped and reached just to the hole where the sub would go. idk its just a thought.

I just got my speakers in today. I got two 12 inch kicker cvr's with a 1500 watt amp and I'm getting some pretty good bass to the cabin. I took out the back seats and ran new wires through and instead of going through the door I went through the middle of the car into the middle console and into the head unit. I got the same adapter as MTZ to keep my head unit. Installation only took about 2 and a half hours. Only part left is to get some dynomat for the panel underneath the rear windshield and it will sound good

I got the speakers for a good deal. Both of them in the box for 100. amp was 110. the adapter for the head unit was $6 just as MTZ said. speaker wire power wire fuse holder rca cables was about another $75. so about $300 for the whole thing but I didn't pay for install.

I got 2 12" Kicker CVR subwoofers. 1500 watt Bass Inferno monoblock amp. I got the LOC adapter and some wire taps and I believe I used the door speakers instead of the tweeters. There is black/grey and pink/purple wires that I tapped into and the ones to the right of them I also tapped into. The LOC comes with instructions

I'm still determined to make use of the oval subwoofer mount in the parcel shelf and I managed to find one 6x9" subwoofer by Lanzar (heard only bad things about this brand):

http://www.lanzar.com/itempage.asp?model=VB69

I'm almost tempted, but do you think there would be enough clearence for that fat magnet over the tank?

Lanzar don't deem it necessary to provide specs on the depth of it...

I just had my OEM subwoofer out. It's only about 2.5" deep. I didn't really notice how much extra room there was above the tank but I doubt that there's much to spare.
