FWIW I did my own subwoofer overhaul...although that word hardly applies. "Patch-job" is what it was.
I honestly can't remember the details. The cone was separating from the frame ....rattling like crazy....and the fix involved, at least partially, a tube of silicone adhesive.
Audiophiles are no doubt cringing at the thought but it still sounds fine after several years. Well, "fine" according to my ears, at least
I had called a couple speaker rebuilding outfits beforehand. For $150/up I thought I'd give it a whirl on my own first.

I repaired my sub cone last year and didn't need any glue. The surround was loose and rattling, and simply needed better screws to hold it all together. I "custom fit" some different screws to secure it, and now there is better bass response and no rattling, at zero cost!
Access the sub by removing the back seat from the car. Not difficult. Posts come up via search.
