Sunroof leaking 2003 XJR

My 2003 XJR all the sudden has developed a sunroof leak. It appears from looking at the sunroof from inside the car that part of the interior "headliner" section has slid somewhere when was retracted and now I cannot see it. I can now see right up to the metal and clearly see that there is sunlight where the water can come through. It appears to be closing normally but something must have popped loose and I cannot figure it out.
Has anyone had this issue and is there any chance that I could fix this myself??
Thank you
Scott

Scott:
You are actually in the wrong section for your model car- You have an X-308 and this is the X-300 forum. BUT- no problem since the sunroof is the same for both cars. You most probably have a drain line plugged in at least one of the four corners. Look carefully at the 4 corners of the sunroof track and find a little hole- about 8 mm or so in each where the water drains. get a piece of semi flexible cable WITHOUT A SHARP END and push it down each drain to clear debris. If you have compressed air, that works even better in my opinion.
The sunroof is not a perfect seal. It uses a clever design to channel the small amount of water that gets through the crack to the corner drains

The sunroof on the sedans do not exactly seal watertight. They rely on drainage paths to carry the water away.
If you can see the rear edge of the sunroof, then the drainage tray and the interior panel have slid back into the cavity. You need to retrieve it and fix the anchoring.
There are various descriptions of the operation posted on both the X300 and X308 sections.

You have the X308.
As Ross has stated, the sliding roofs are identical to the X300.
As PLUMS has stated, the interior panel is pushed back into the rear of the track assy.
Reach your arm or hook onto it and drag it forward. Leave the roof closed until you can repair it or leave it closed PERMANENTLY.
