Supercharger 'cap' insulation

Supercharger 'cap' insulation
Hello, all,
So I finally got around to removing the supercharger 'cap' and the valve cover for powder coating, and I have a question for those who've been this far. There is a section of insulation on the bottom of the supercharger 'cap' (pictured here but w/o the insulation end visible) that I'm wondering if it's use is for insulation or to control noise/rattle.
The insulation will need to be scraped off as part of the powder coating process requires it to be in an industrial oven (as I'm sure everyone knows). I'm also wondering if I will be able to find a suitable piece of replacement insulation somewhere on the Web once assembly time comes around.

Not sure. Here's an actual picture of it https://db.tt/tHEVO9bf although you likely won't be able to tell anything from it lol. Might be a question for xjrengineer

Hi Shaune,
I assume that you are referring to the thin sheet of foam that is glued to the underside of the cast duct with XJR6 SUPERCHARGED lettering on it, shown in the photograph. I believe that this foam would have been put in there to stop the duct rattling against the top surface of the intercooler core that is welded into the intake plenum. I'm sure you could scrape the old stuff off and replace it with a new layer of closed cell foam after powder coating. Just make sure that the new foam will withstand temperatures up to at least 130deg C.

Adding to this thread to serve as reference for those who might be in this situation in the future.
Such a difficult process trying to find something locally to put between the duct & intercooler core.
Was easy to find generic insulation but nothing to with-stand heat at all nevermind 130 degrees celsius.
I found this stuff which is totally over-kill, but I only have to buy it once,
and I need not worry if what I used will cause any trouble.
