I understand the entire process that was used to remove the old bushings and press in the new ones.

My question comes from getting to the bushings.
What was the process of getting access to the bushings? Did you have to remove the ball joints or did you come up with a way to remove the inboard side of the control arm?

Never done this particular repair before but our car needs it now.

No Bernie you don't have to remove anything (other than the wheel and shock!) to get to the lower bushing. Not a huge amount of room to do the job, but enough.

I had removed the sway bar links and the lower control arm ball joint to get better access- bought these parts also while I had it apart, relatively inexpensive sourced from aftermarket suppliers on line. Just a note: I'd replaced the shocks with Sensa gas shocks, and they have been superb. On another note, I replaced tires when I'd purchased this car with high end high speed rated tires and I will never do that again! Has made for a very hard ride which has been part of the problem in the suspension, and these hard tires wear pretty quickly and harshly. I'll be replacing with a much softer tire this next go around, as it's due. Fellow jag drivers I know have also experienced this, and the softer tire has increased the ride tremendously and tires have lasted twice as long.
