Default there's an XKSS in town..

I know it's not an X300, but I am excited - there is an XKSS in my little town for a week, and I'm going to have a look when I can.
It is one of the run of "new" ones they made in the last year or so.

Definitely on my short list of dream cars, and it's especially beautiful in that color!

Thanks for sharing AL NZ. Now if you can negotiate a little time in the passenger seat, or maybe even behind the wheel!

Cheers,

Don

I wish I had that, and they had a Big Feather! We'd both be tickled!

Did you get to sit in it? Its a tight fit.
No passenger rides as it isn’t registered for the road as far as I know.
I had the pleasure of attending the official presentation at Shorters in Auckland and we have had it on display at our Viaduct event last year and the Intermarque Concours in February.

No, I didn’t even ask. They know I love Jags and I bought a Volvo off them last year. I didn’t touch it either - as a kid my job was to polish our aluminum-bodied Vauxhall 30-98, which only took about 5 hours, and then everyone would put their mitts all over it

While I was looking at the XKSS, the salesman was trying to talk me into a new XJ 575 which of course I’d love, but not for NZD$200,000 !

I recently visited the Jaguar Classic Workshop where they are being built. Unfortunately, they can't be registered on the road, at least not in the UK. So pieces of automotive art, might be all they ever are.

Couldn't they be titled as a 1957 XKSS?

It isn't just in the UK either; they can't be registered anywhere in the civilized world. I mean, where are the air bags, the ABS and all the rest of the paraphernalia that goes with a modern car? When Jaguar built the lightweights, one owner managed to get it registered in Montana, but AFAIK that is the only one. The new D-types cannot be registered, not the 9 XKSS. Except that somehow Jaguar managed to get one through the net and that is the one Hammond drove on Amazon Prime. But that will lose it's registration when the first MOT comes around. I'll stick with my Lynx. I can drive it anywhere

Nice car, Lowdrag
There are some great replicas around, obviously Lynx, also here in NZ Tempero make some D-types and XKSSes even a Maserati birdcage. They all seem to be road-registerable.

A lightweight registered in Montana? I'm in Montana, so if you happen to have any details?... would love to see it.
