Has anyone here ever installed an aftermarket touchscreen android head unit into a X300?
Various units are offered on ebay from manufactures such as Joying, Atoto, and etc in sizes ranging from 7" to 10" touchscreen displays.
There are single DIN units as well as dual DIN units. There are also units offered where either the main head unit can be mounted remotely from the screen itself or other ones where there actually is no DIN body on the back of the radio (see photos below)
I am wondering how to install this type of aftermarket radio into an X300 dash.
7inch Android head unit from side 3/4 view of 7inch touchscreen Android head unit 9inch Android head unit with single DIN sized box
The X300 stereo head has 2 types of speaker output so the car side of the wiring is dependent on the option it came with , standard or premium
The difference is the car side wiring as the speaker wires start from the front dash or the trunk
The same control head and rear of the control head connector is used on both the standard and premium setup
The difference is the speaker output using a multi wire round ( tan colored ) cable to a trunk mounted final amplifier
The rear of the stereo head connector is after the output signals have passed through 2 internally final amplifiers ( Toshiba # TA8221 or the compliment twin )
12 is a car speed sensor to increase volume with wind noise
There should be more information in the X308 area as the head unit is a similar Alpine unit and someone installed a single DIN for a backup camera
I can't find it how but here is a pic of the round tan wire bundle on my laptop ( looks like a round coax cable that may not be installed on your car but avail at the salvage yard )
I can't say if the pic is accurate as I didn't do the modification
Just to be clear at this point I am slightly less concerned about the wiring connections than I am about how to mount one of these 7", 8" 9" or 10" touchscreens on the dash without obscuring some other component.
