Transmission fail safe?
Here is my story:
On the freeway doing 70. No ABS..locked up the wheels. After I came to a stop, car died. Put car in park and start engine. Tranny was in fail safe with idiot light on. Drove a couple miles and shut car off. Started up fine and no fail safe mode. Stopped at light over the weekend, car went into fail safe. Has never done this before the freeway incident.
This would appear to be related to ABS or wheel speed senor of some kind. Please tell me I can get out of this without tranny work.
Tranny shifts perfect...no issues at all.

My car will set a trans fault & go into limp mode instantaneously if I stall the engine while rolling. I believe this is because the engine RPM & Trans rotation do not match. I suppose the same can happen if the trans stops turning while the engine is still running (brakes locked-up). Maybe your engine stalled while you were still in motion & you rolled a bit after stalling the engine. I just cleared the code & all has been well ever since.
