Transmission fluid help
I have tried to check my transmission fluid level but seem to have hit a problem.
I pull the dipstick out wipe it clean then reinsert it, when I pull it out again the fluid shows a long way above the hot mark, it does not matter whether the gearbox is hot or cold.
I removed some fluid via the dipstick tube but the reading is the same.
Anyone know why this is?

handbook says this (my paraphrase)
drive at least 14 miles until hot
park on level, leave engine running
with foot on brake, pull gearlever into each gear then back to Park
pull out dipstick, wipe, then re-insert and read off 'Hot' side
it states 'cold' side for dealer reference only.
good luck
