Question Tree dropped a branch, destroyed my driver's door.

Had a big front come through last night with a lot of wind. It knocked a branch off a tree which hit my Jag and took out the driver's window, the side view mirror and the door panel.
But no other damage, thankfully.

This will be an easy fix (compared to having it hit the roof or pillars!)

QUESTION:
Are 1995, 1996, 1997 XJ6 shortie driver's doors interchangable with VDP (long wheel base) driver's door?

Thanks!

PS: I call 'em 'shorties' because after drivng a VDP forever, they just look all scrunched-up and weird to me.

The added length for LWB sedans is the rear door area. (between B/C pillar and D pillar)

There were NO LWB sedans (VIN 720001-754303 SWB only) in 1995MY. (VIN 754304 onward for SWB and LWB)

Save your driver door master window / seat controller as there are different versions

When reinstalling the connector back on ensure the pins lock bar is engaged or the pins can migrate away from connection

Someone had excellent instructions on door interior panel / card removal

There is a " clocking " procedure on the window motor / regulator and the motor can be run up and down with a battery charger ( high current arching hazard )

The final fine clocking involves holding the up button for a period of time telling the controller the window has arrived at the full up postion

Inspect the interior door handle cable on the rear cable swedge as can be frayed before ultimately breaking

The rear cable attach point in the receiver involves a very small special clip that can fall into the interior of the door sides
