Default Tyre pressure for winter storage

Hi all,

what are your experience with recommended tyre pressure when storing your car for longer periods of time? Mine's a 1996 XJ6 4.0.

Thank you,
Vidar

I would just inflate them a little bit more then normal, so... 3bar?

When I worked at the dealer years ago, the cars shipped NEW from England had 60 psi to make the voyage.

During the PDI process, we 'deflated' the tires to 32ish and followed the checklist to make the car ready for the customers.

The maximum pressure listed on the sidewall is for DRIVING at that inflation.
Jaguar inflated to 60PSI to prevent 'flat-spotting'.

Overinflating for storage is a different thing.

I assume that storage is the same thing Jaguar was attempting to accomplish.

If you are going to store it for a long period of time the best thing would be to put it on jack stands. Then you won’t have to worry about it at all. Just check the tire pressure before setting it back on the ground.

I agree!! but the question was about tire pressure.
I would store a bicycle on the wall for the same reason but sometimes the simple solution is NOT what is necessary.
