Tyre recommendations
Hello All,
I'm about to replace my tyres, and thought I'd canvass opinion here about experiences, good or bad.
My car currently has Yokohama db V550 AVS 'Decibel' tyres, which I think are excellent, and I'm minded just to replace them with the same thing. Mine are what I believe is the standard spec, being 225/60R16 102W. My brother has Pirelli P600 on his XJ40 which seem significantly noiser to me, although maybe that's an XJ40/X300 thing as the X300 seems generally quieter.
I've had Michelin Pilot/Premacy tyres on another large heavy car recently, which I found to be pretty good, but they are a LOT more expensive here than the Yokohamas or Pirellis so I'd have to be very conivinced of their superiority - which frankly I'm not.
I'm interested in quiet ride and good dry road grip above all else. We don't suffer much from rain, let alone ice and snow, in Perth!
All thoughts/comments gratefully received.

Aussie saying of old.
"IF YOU ARE ON A GOOD THING STICK TO IT".
If what you got are doing all they are intended, stay with them.
I run Maxim on my X300, came with the car, and have used them on other Jags, and I like them, others do not, your car, your choice.
She has Goodyear Road Hugger on the XJ-S and awesome tyres, but getting very "tram tracky" now they are getting on a bit. Maxim will replace them one day, no rush.

I can't explain it....having had opportunity to work (or attempt to, at least) with French companies in past...but IMHO, Michelin is easily the best tire on the market whether for Truck, SUV, or car. I've owned throughout their varied lifespans Goodyear, Goodrich, Firestone, Kuhmo, Cooper, and Bridgestone in addition to Michelin across all those veh. types and it isn't even close. Maybe I had bad-luck or had the "wrong" or "lesser" model of a particular manufacturer's tire...but if the tread wasn't gone prematurely, either the belts separated or the sidewall came apart. Having said that...my X300 is sitting on the Pirelli Psomething thousand (4,6, or 8 - can't recall) that were on it when I bought it and I am quite pleased with them, indeed! Even so, when the time comes for replacement, I'll likely go to Michelin if I can afford it. Currently have Pilot A/S Sports on both S-types and LTX M/S on the Truck and the Exc.
