Well after getting the Jag started and battery charged it was time to run her to the Mot station for her yearly check up. she been sitting for 4 months as ive been working away. when my mechanic called me he wouldn't tell me over the phone, as he knew i was driving. 4 New Tyres, Discs and pads all round, New Exhaust middle section, new Shock on front, main rear sub frame Bushes, 10 hours welding. not a lot of change from a Bag of Sand.
i sat there and thought about it and you know what... its getting done.. so she back in the garage having the welding done this week and then back to mates workshop for other repairs... we can rebuild her and she will glide along again soon..

That's some shopping list - I hope you've made plenty of ££'s working away!
Please post in the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section to tell all the members something about yourself and your Jaguar.
So far we can guess you have an X300 and 'mate's workshop' suggests you may be in the UK?

Well went down to visit her today. she all stripped out and up on the ramps. very poor state, large holes around the footwells of both driver and passenger, small hole in rear footwell, and the sills that were welded by previous owner were tacked and undersealed. on the upside the garage are going to fit my new rear shocks for free (I think they feel sorry for me), and have agreed to do the welding in downtime and only charge me 30 nicker an hour.... RESULT.... New brake discs and Pads all round turned up yesterday, Exhaust is on order and will be here this week so all is looking good. gonna try and get to garage tomorrow to see if i can get some pictures of the old girl in current state....
will keep the updates coming

the 10 hours has been extended a bit.. lots of bad metal to be cut out, plus for the £30 per hour its being done in down time and as & when time.. im not to worried about the amount of time they have her, i just want her to be solid and safe when i get her back. i will be doing the brakes myself and whiles it is all a part a good scrub and clean will be given in each corner. the garage fitted the new rear shocks today and the big **** bushes in the back are being done monday by them.. so the job is moving on, have taken some pictures of the holes today and will try and get them posted on here. thanks for your continued interest..

Is it being surrounded by salt water that causes all this trauma in the UK?
They practically pave the roads with salt in the snow belt in North America. So is it a different kind of salt, or a warmer climate when parked? There is rust here, but nothing like the pictures that get posted on JF. The rear arches are a known "must inspect" on the X300 here, but that's about it.

The car has spent its life living on the south coast of England, there is a lotof salt in the air from the sea. i have a customer who's house is on the front itself and i have to change his outside light fittings every year because they corrode. The car has also spent a bit of time parked up and i dont believe this helped.
Good news today... ive been told the welding is now complete, so the garage are re fitting the interior over the next couple of days and she is back in my hands for the rest of the work.. ive secured the use of my mates workshop for a few evenings so fingers crossed wont be long till we cruising...

Well today is a good day... Ive picked her up from the garage, i had to hand over £1900 of my hard earned cash but she is all welded, and the old botched up welding has been stripped out and replaced with good. also had a complete waxoyl treatment underneath so hopefully she good for years to come now, i got her in my hands again. well briefly, she is now in my mates workshop waiting for me to do the brake rebuild, hopefully starting that this weekend. new exhaust arrived today, so will attempt to fit that as well. not long now before she back on the road... will add some pics

Hi All,
Been a couple of busy weeks with work so slow progress, but front brakes are done, exhaust is done, Ive Acid cleaned the wheels and they looking very smart, two have some corrosion on the inside so m debating if im gonna go for a full refurb on them with possible powder-coat in a new colour.. not sure yet and opinions welcome.. The rear brakes will be done this week along with the track rod end and then back in for its Retest... got some pics of progress, also interior styling has moved on with the first thing going is the wood. im afraid i have never been a fan of wood on dashboards, makes me feel like an old man, so its all been stripped cleaned and vinyl wrapped. the results in my opinion are great, im so happy with them, and will post pics once it is refitted. ordered my new bumper mounts yesterday as well, i see the ones on her are broken and the front bumper hangs down. still so much to do.. updates to follow...
