Hi
Can anyone put me right about the unusual rear centre consol I have on my Daimler 6 1995. They are Walnut panels set into the centre, underneath is a drawer with the CD changer in it. Someone has told me it is a special, but I Can’t imagine why!
Anyone got any ideas?
Hi
Thanks, It’s weird, it’s been very properly done, stitching and leather and vaneer, perfect match with the car. Also there is no middle seat Belt! I just can’t see why it would be there. I know they do a 'bench' option.
Has anybody else got any ideas?
its definitely not factory-made. I know all the models an I never seen that in any brochure for the Daimler Six or Double-Six
CD-Changer is originally mounted in the trunk
But it is perfect done!
(Your Daimler is pure 4-single-seater - only with the bench it would be a 5-seater with middle seatbelt)
Thank you, I don’t like non original, so if possible I will revert to the original. Im hoping it will just need the seat base which is on a hinge at the rear???

Don’t assume it wasn’t from the factory, they would do any combination that an owner wanted to special order, so it MAY be original.
You can order an option build sheet from JDHT, just tell them your VIN and ask for the options that your car came with. It does cost some, but worth it.
I have an XJR6 that came from the factory with a Daimler V12 interior that the above document confirms was factory. Yours is different in that no other cars have what you have BUT it doesn’t mean that the specials department did not get involved !
Thank you for the pictures, it doesn’t look as if I would have to change much to restore to original ( if I decide to) Just a seat lid, and I think I have seen these advertised on line. Thanks again

Hi
well I have the answer to the query about the strange centre consul. I collected the car yesterday and have had a chance for a good probe . Couple that with a folder that came with the car from a previous owner, with many, many invoices. One of them was to fit a leather unit between the rear seats for a Sony Video Walkman, whatever that is, and storage for cassettes. The price was a staggering €1900 for this! The good news is it may be removable, to fit an original centre unit, if I can find one. I hope so as I’m not keen on it as it is. Factory option, or special I can live with but bespoke private work, albeit incredibly well done is not for me!
Thank you all for your comments.
