Default UPDATE: $30 eBay Chrome Door Handle Covers on my XJ6

Hello Jag owners!

You may remember seeing my thread from last month about chrome door handle covers. Well I ended up buying them and wanted to show off how nice they look!

I just stuck them on today, so the jury is still out on if they stay attached - especially with the 90 degree F weather we're having - but they don't look bad at all. They match really well with my Frankenstein non-VDP... It already has chrome VDP mirrors!

So these bad boys basically come with strips of adhesive tape on the back, and are an almost exact match with the shape of the door handle. Two sets for $30, gotta be careful when installing them!

All in all a great buy. If you want chrome door handles and don't want to use the OEM ones that came on the VDP, this is a decent alternative! Though I will admit that they stick out a tad bit more than they should, it doesn't look bad at all! A lot of aftermarket stuff like this may look tacky but I like these a lot.

Cheers!

Driver's side before. Note the door handles that are not chrome and are slightly faded due to sun damage.

Driver's side now. Looking good!

After close up - notice that you can see some of the original handle around the sides, but only if you look very closely.

Here's a direct comparison. I put them on in the order LR RR LF RF so you can see where my priorities lie!

Seems I mistakenly posted this in the wrong subforum. I meant to post this in the X300 forum. Is there a chance a moderator can move this over there? I don't want to double post.

Thanks!

Your wish is my command! Don B

Oh here's your post! I thought you were putting these on, but didn't see any update. I guess you could post up in the X308 section with this and it would still apply!

They look great. For sure an easy way to add OEM-looking chrome handles. Looks like the shape is an exact match. Let's see if they stand the test of time in the AZ heat.

I bought them also but awaiting to install them until after I buff out the rest of the paint . There are mirrors also available but I found a Vande Plus to pull from , they're plastic .

What version of wheel are those ?

Offtopic :
How about the rubber bushings between the trim from the door handle?

I am seeing some cracks in mine, sooner or later they have to come out anyways I think.

Those are aftermarket wheels, found a long time ago at Tire Rack. Borbet (?) 16x7s with a larger offset than the originals. Jaguar center caps adjusted to fit. Not many options on aftermarket wheels for the X300. I put those wheels on this car when it was new to me about ten years ago. I'm still the chief mechanic, assisting Deckwith in keeping her together! Still a good runner.

Yes, door handles must come out for that job. Not much fun there. But otherwise, you live with constantly loose door handles.
