Default US Spec XJR6 Brake Rotors

Gang. I was looking for some improved braking performance, so recently purchased EBC's Stage 12 Kits Front and Rear. Received the Front set last week and yesterday jacked up the car to swap them. Discovered immediately after removing the wheels that the rotors on my car were significantly smaller at 11.5" than the 12.8" diameter new rotors supplied in kit. I double checked that I had ordered and received the correct part numbers for a '97 XJR fitted with ATE calipers. Have been in contact with the vendor that supplied the EBC kit but have not yet received a clear answer as to why the size difference.
I found an older thread that states the US spec cars were fitted with the same brakes as XJ6.

Did Euro cars receive bigger brakes than US models? If yes, have any US owners fitted the larger Euro brakes?

Note- The EBC Redstuff pads fit the ATE calipers very well.

My guess is that they sent you X308 brake rotors.

All x300 cars used the same size brake rotors

After speaking with the EBC folks I have found that the Euro cars received larger 12.8" rotors and us North Americans were stuck with the 11.5" on front. They are shipping me a set of 11.5" XJ6 rotors in exchange for the larger ones.
That is unless someone can point me to a vendor that can supply the bits needed to fit the larger Euro rotors on my ride.

I've never heard that, not that I am the 100% expert, but a lot of folks have looked into upgraded brakes from other Jag models for years and there weren't any options. So I think EBC is confused.

The only optionally larger brakes and different calipers that I am aware of were the Brembo brakes available on the X308 series, not X300.

If there are other improved brake options for the X300 I and many others would be very interested in hearing about it.

EBC may have incorrect info. Was hoping an owner of a European model would chime in, would be really excellent to be able to use the bigger EBC rotors.

Over the course of year this subject has come up quite a few times of various Jag forums and the conclusion has always been the same: the X300/305/306 cars of any/all markets used the same size rotors. I'll avoid using absolutes, though, and leave the door open a tiny crack for some oddball exception

Much more likely is that EBC is showing a 1997 car as an X308 series. Model year designations do vary from market to market and it is common for transitional years to get bollixed up in catalog listings...which is the main reason why we use "X300" and "XJ40" etc etc

Cheers

I have a 1996 X330 Sovereign. I changed the front rotors some while ago, and being a hoarder, still have the worn old ones. They are 11.5 inches in diameter.

The Jaguar parts book makes no market distinctions. According to it, all X300's have the same front brakes.

EBC catalog is incorrect. I spoke with a few folks from EBC and they will correcting the listing. The 12.8" rotors were returned and correct 11.5" sent. Will be fitting the new rotors this week and provide an update on performance. Thanks folks.
