Default Vacuum leak from Brake booster?

POV had purchased a lot of nos/repop parts from Welsh. Included was a vacuum booster. So after "eliminating?" the culprits I wanted to replace anyway, chasing down the misses and such, I pumped the old BB while at idle and noticed a smoothing out of the idle. Shall I just dive in and replace the old one? I have disconnected and plugged the vacuum tube at the SC intake and didn't notice anything different.
