Default Valve cover gasket

I have oil leak from valve cover gasket at the passenger side rear corner and also in two of the six spark plug wells. Is there supposed to be individual O ring gasket for the six spark plug wells as well? I have Googled and only one found was for perimeter of the valve cover gasket only. One below was found on EBAY.

Yes they are called plug seals I think. Just a cursory look at the same site turned up this, but you may be able to find some higher quality ones.

Be sure to check the plug well surface to head clearance - the magnesium valve covers can get warped or even get holes in the plug well.

They are called spark plug boss seals. The JLR part number is NBC2579AA. They are available from SNG Barratt, one of the forum sponsors:

The spark plug well gasket seats on the valve cover side can be rough and not the original smooth surface as they corrode and get a irregular texture and can be smoothed mechanically with some valve grinding compound on the end of a wooden dowel or stick in a drill up to a point where the T shaped seal does not have enough pinch . But a least intrusive approach would be to chemically clean the seats and using the red high temp sealant on the valve cover side.

On the large gasket the D shaped cutouts on the back can be manufactured without enough meat ( as I have seen some that are not solid but beveled ) to do the job as well as the corner of the D's requiring some of the same high temp sealant for the seal's mechanical dimensional shortfalls . This can be missed as you assemble as I have done it myself so you have to put your finger behind there to see if the D has not twisted out and fell out of place .

Got with Dupont for a ultimate solution and manufacturing for the original valve cover shortfalls as they age being my formal education is in chemical engineering .

Gotta go , my Mom says I need to go to bed now .

Would love to hear the ultimate solution.

On eBay, you should be able to find gasket sets with, and oddly enough, without the spark plug seals. Why someone would do one without the other, I have no idea.

I meant this Ultimate solution reference, however it does seem you have the parts you need to complete the gasket change now.

I changed the gasket and seals as a set when I replaced my rocker cover, due to the bubbling finish. I sourced the gasket set and replacement cover from eBay and from memory, it wasn't very expensive and not an overly complicated Job. As others have mentioned above I used a high temp sealant around the plug seals and half mood D shape. This also helped keep everything in place during reassembly.

I've had the same problem. The long term fix is to have the cam cover powder coated. The casting gets porous at times. The powder coating place I used was in N.C., maybe Spring, and the name powder coating is in the business name of sorts. The owner's name is Roger Blanchard. Great guy and great results. I highly recommend his service. It stopped the oil leaks into the spark plug tunnels plus it looks very, very nice.

In my opinion, a little oil in the plug tunnel is OK but a lot is not.
