Hello, i have a problem in my x300 that is burning a diode in the bpm and cant find why.
so i am willind to buy the tools to read the modules, can anyone point me if this is ok to connect to my 1996 3.2 x300 and read the car modules as the dealer software?

On the face of it, yes it will work with the right software. I didn't think anyone sells these anymore and I note on your link it shows "out of stock".
I have one of these that I bought many years ago and it is a fantastic tool and has been pretty reliable with the right version of IDS. One re-soldered joint was required last year and it now works again as new.
However, I would stress that I don't think it will help you with the problem you describe.

Having recently completed successfully the journey (not easy) to having Jaguar SDD/IDS up and running and allowing me to fully communicate with my 1996 XJR, let me assure you, it is nowhere as easy as purchasing the VCM (its a clone) and software shown in your attachment.
For starters, you will require a "genuine VCM" not a clone, they will not communicate with your vehicle. You also require the correct SDD/IDS version, especially with your older vehicle, which will only work with Legacy IDS.
I have recently successfully completed a "02 sensor orientation" with my set up which is as follows and is basically mandatory -
: Dell Latitude D630 laptop running Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 or 3. Some other laptops will work
: Computer date must be set August 2012 & no later. Do not have internet connection.
: SDD/IDS Version 131.03 ( No later )
As suggested by bimcp, I believe your best & easiest course would be to seek a replacement BCM. Genuine VCM's do not come cheap nor appear that easy to procure.

Thanks a log for your answers, i have bought two bpms but car keeps burning them, the pin that should be reading 0 at start reads 12v and i don't know why neither my electrician.
Car is immobilized and no central lock. Changing the slcm also does not help the central locking so we are totally blind here
thanks for your help regarding the vcm/ids thought it would be a lot easier

There is a VCM for sale on ebay UK at the moment that claims to be genuine. See here (no association etc.)

My experience of Clone VCM is different to John's. I've had my clone since 2009. Had to repair it once a year or so ago, but it's been fine. I've also run IDS on many different laptops (Dell, HP, Lenovo) without issue. This may depend on what version of IDS software is being run?
I recommend IDS 118.5 for the X300 (supports cars up to approx 2010 I think). I think this is the last version that runs natively with the VCM. Jaguar switched to SDD after that and it launches IDS from within SDD so that adds complications to the configuration and may be the hardware/OS requirements?
I'm currently running IDS 118.5 with clone VCM on a Lenovo T410 laptop under WIndows 7.

I'm by no means an expert on these. All I can say is unfortunately I don't think there are any easy or cheap solutions for this. I'm not aware of anyone who has made IDS run with anything other than a real VCM or a Chinese clone of the real VCM (and both these are only available as used now).
AFAIK, after the original VCM, Jaguar and Ford went on different diagnostic paths. Jaguar moved to the Mongoose cable and Ford went the VCM II route (which I suspect is what that last linked item emulates).
If you search in the General Technical section you will find many long threads on compatibility and software versions for IDS, SDD, VCM and Mongoose (and clones of each). If you're technically minded there is some good reading. If you're not then don't even go there.
There is an alternative solution (but it's not cheap either), which is AutoEnginuity. They have a Jaguar specific module which I have used a few years ago and it provides most of what IDS does for older vehicles. (There are other high end systems e.g. AutoLogic, but think in 4 figures for those.)
That's as much as I know I'm afraid.

Thanks so much for your comments. I have seen lots of threads about the Mongoose cable but I’ve also heard that it won’t work on a 1995 X300. I would love to be proved wrong.
I might have to look again at Auto Ingenuity. It seems that although it’s expensive it may be my most reliable and predictable option.

Check with motorcarman
If you go into the General Tech Help section, there's a 586 post thread titled, "Cloned Dealer Scan Tool" which will have the answer, or you can be Post #587 and ask your question. Tons of stuff to learn on that thread about diagnostic tools for the Jags though. It's worth reading through.

Found out the common cracked version of SDD158 works well on Windows 10 and launches tabman (WDS/IDS software) without issue whereas all the virtual machine images are useless.
I was able to pull an ABS code once but all the other stuff resulted in a serial communication error, obviously because of my bootleg J2534 device. Legacy IDS in J2534 mode seems to work better with the early S-Type X-Type and the very first 350s, maybe it’ll work on a 300 with a genuine VCI, Mongoose JLR, da dongle etc. Should work flawlessly with a Rotunda VCM 1.
