This plastic covered space has bugged me even though no one sees it but me. I tried to buy the tool kit but they are very expensive. Especially when the tools look like they came from a child's construction set. I tried to cut closed cell foam to fit but, the box is too irregularly shaped.
I found some upholstery material from the shelf and cut it to fit. I then scrounged some tools I had in my collection that fit the box. To keep it from rattling around I put a shop rag on top. This solution is not for everyone but, I keep a complete tool set in the trunk and now am using the space for something at least.
Changed the reverse lamps. Had to epoxy one of the housings back together.
De-rattled the license plate and frame using felt pads and bending the plate so it fit the frame without clanging.. Cleaned underneath the chrome plinth the lights and trunk button attach to.
Pulleds both tail lights and cleaned the bulbs, and area under tail lights.
Swapped my MAF with the junk yard MAF.
Measured the ohm on all the coils. Checked all the boots for cracking or arcing and found one that showed a crack around the area it mounts.
A quick overview of the problems I've been chasing, a month ago or so a 4WD managed to clean up my front right guard. I left my X300 in the garage for about 2 weeks while I organised a repairer. Only to find that she would no longer start.
Thinking or hoping this was due to a faulty CPS, I purchased one-second hand, but still no Joy. Biting the bullet I had her towed to a Jag Specialist who said she had Bad compression and managed to get her running by adding oil to the cylinders. (Now running be it very rough with hesitation).
As I didn't get any specs on the compression test, I wanted a second opinion so took her to a local mechanic, who had the injectors cleaned (reconditioned) and replaced a coil. Reporting that he felt the other five coils may need replacing at some point and gave me results on another compression test showing that all cylinders were fine. (Jag still idling very rough with hesitation)
While I had her in getting the front guard repaired, I ordered 5 new coils and a new CPS from SNG Barratt, while purchasing a new Fuel filter locally.
I received her back from the repairer, who did an absolutely fantastic job, he managed to work in respraying the bonnet/hood, front bar, guard and mirrors into the claim and all look fantastic. (Can recommend for those in Melb Aust).
Anyhow once I had her back I replaced the fuel filter (learning very quickly why you are supposed to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the line out first).
With the new fuel filter, she was running 100% better but still had a very rough idle and still felt like she was missing on the highway.
That brings me to today, I have just finished installing the five new coils and fitting new plugs. Finally, she's purring like a kitten again.
As recommended in other threads I still have to clean the throttle body, MAS and idle air control valve but thankfully this is all now preventative maintenance. I also still have a Coolant Temp sensor on the way that I can now call a spare.
Replaced the Cam Position Sensor and Water Temp sensor today with new ones I had ordered before fitting new coils 3 days ago. My understanding is that these items either work or they don't so all the wow that makes a huge difference feelings I'm having, I'm sure are just Placebo as the new coils seemed to have solved the issues already.
Interestingly though, my temp gauge seems to have found the gradient between N and C. previously it would either be just below the N (usually when idling in traffic) or on the C (whenever moving) never in between. The sensor I replaced is for the ECU not the gauge, go figure.
Stripped the clearcoat off the wheels . Never would clean up enough with a polishing compound and many hours as the before example . Before and after . Not just angle effect . Before sanding or buffing .

Getting ready for a Vic Jaguar Run this weekend, I've just Cleaned my air filter, Mass air flow sensor, Throttle body and without removing it, idle control valve.
The best way I can describe the result of doing all this maintenance along with replacing the coils, Cam position sensor and temp sensor a couple of weeks ago. Is that the ride feels tight. The throttles a lot more responsive (she wants to go) and the ride/idle is smooth.
oil and filter change,mobil one 10-30 high mileage full synthetic,filter is mann oem W930/13 ,also am working on replaceing trans outer wire harness,should finish that next week,i keep getting a,"high trans temp"fault code,i have already replaced the trans thermister.
...nothing special. Just a quick wash and chamois dry, then I waxed the bonnet to get rid of water spots from 2 weeks ago.

I drove the car for the first time after 10 days of taxis, Subaru Tribeca, airplane seats, and a couple of days of driving my wife’s new XC90. The XJR trumps them all. It has a much more comfy driver’s seat than the Volvo’s hugely-adjustable front seat.
An annoying rattle that I thought was loose trim has been solved by adjusting the sunroof, and it feels taut, great steering, enough power. I think I’ll keep it a bit longer....
