Sure no problem. As you may know harmonic balancer is inserted in to the middle of the crank pulley and there is no physical connection apart from a rubber spacer in between. When this rubber spacer gets old and becomes hard, it no longer sticks well to the outer part (pulley) and slippage occurs. This causes screecing noise under hard acceleration or revs. So we removed the crank pulley by the help of a hydraulic press and some lube. In this process attention is required because there is a possibilty to crack the pulley. So pressing slowly and gently we pressed out the center part out of the pulley. After removing center part (this is the inner part which you mount to the crank) you have to get rid of the rubber spacer and clean both sides. Inner face of the pulley and outer face of the center part is not flat. One face is concave other face is convex. Convex side is milled to flat so that a ring can be inserted in between. After measuring exact gap a ring is machined from stainless steel.
First the inner part is inserted in the ring. To do this you will have to heat the ring and insert the inner part. Wait to cool. Secondly heat the pulley (outer part) and insert the inner part with the ring. Wait to cool. Now it is tight but to secure, a welding is needed. We opened 4 small notches on each side of the ring and filled notches by welding. These notches are not bigger than a lentil. Then cleaned the ecxess by sanding to keep the flush look. After everything is finished I had it powder coated. Hope I am clear. I can understand what I mean because I did the modification. If you can not understand I can draw and post it.

Default routine service

Nothing special, routine 8000km maintenance, I replaced the pod filter with a K&N, Performed the regular oil and filter change, cleaned the throttle body along with MAS and added some injection cleaner to the tank. I also added to the regular routine, draining and refilling the transmission fluid, as advised by others on the forum. The transmission dropped exactly 4.3lt of fluid cold and I carefully torqued the drain plug to 15 nm. This has made a noticeable difference to gear changes and my ride has never felt better. I think there's a lot to be said for simple routine maintenance and its effect on performance.

Had an alignment problem. Couldn't get the car to align after three tries. The car would pull both directions depending on how you steered...
It would hunt a little as you steered and would not always come back to straight.
After a little inspection I found the left rear wheel bearing was just a little bit loose. Torqued it down no more problem now it aligns fine.

Both my x300s need new windscreens - big stone chips from trucks and roadworks around here
to top it all off, some little gosh!te smashed the rear quarter light on the XJR last night, and jimmied the metal trim, so that’ll need fixing before it’s weatherproof again.

New Valve cover gaskets, bolt seals and plug seals. New Champions gapped .035.

Two plug wells had oil in them.

Engine was beautifully clean inside!!!

Nice work, Michael. They are looking nearly like they're chromed. They really pop! I bet you get lots of positive comments.

Michael, did you clear-coat those wheels? Or are you going to regularly re-polish them?
which 17” tyres have you fitted?
looking good!

no clear coat, just a coat of<"zephyr",polish,to help seal.the hard part is ,"the cut",with the first two wheels,at 6000rpm,for maintenance,i will use a white polishing wheel, with white rouge, on my drill at 1800 rpm.for the maintenance polish, and then zephyr coat again

I like the look of those tyres. 255 is wide...
I have X308 Asteroids on mine with 245/45 R18 Potenzas which handle well.
however you may have inspired me to go back to the correct 17” Sports wheels.

how did you get the paint off the wheels prior to painting? Could you please post a pic of your polishing wheels and gear?
thanks

...on a different note...
today the 3.2 Daimler got a new windscreen after a large stone chip cracked in 3 directions.
It cost NZD $360 for an aftermarket screen which looks very nice.
Another company quoted $1600 ! I think that was a genuine part, not sure if it was for a later X308 ?do they have rain-sensing wipers..

anyway, I then swapped the Daimler for the XJR which needs a new screen too, to pass our WOF (equivalent to MOT), and it also needs new rear quarter light after vandalism 3 nights ago.
the genuine new quarterlight ex-UK was quoted at NZD$2,800 ... got a secondhand one from Beacham Jaguar here in Hawke's Bay for a comparatively-reasonable $400. That and the new screeen are getting fitted tomorrow

Finally got her back this evening from the shop with new front/rear shocks, upper/lower ball joints, sway bar, u-joints, differential bearings, rear axle bearings, pinion bearings, starter and power steering pump. Also had valve cover gasket and seals replaced (had some stripped bolt threads repaired, now no more oil leak), a new fuel line from the pump to the filter (apparently when I had the pump replaced last year they kinked the line) and the throttle body cleaned. Total cost about three grand. Took her on a thirty mile jog, she was as smooth as glass at 70 mph. Now need to do some interior work (driver's seat, headliner), repair a small rust spot and have her detailed.
