What I did to cover up the fading clear coat on my hood
A friend of mine and myself have started to plastidip cars and instead of spending almost or over 3k for a paint job that might not even last more than a few years, I have decided to cover over it with plastidip.
Here are the results. My buddies car is the Mini Cooper next to mine since he decided to do his front hood also. Eventually he's going to be doing that whole car.

Mini Cooper didn't turn out very well, with the flat black hood and glossy paint everywhere else. On the Jag, would've been better to do the roof, since the paint is in such bad shape up there anyway. Get some good "before" pics, then do your plastidip" thing, take some "after" pics, and see what the comparison looks like.
The clear coat is shot in the roof of mine, and there's a good amount of crow's feet on the hood too. I was quoted about $3200 to repaint my car, taking it down to bare metal and going from there. Based on your plastidip experiment, I think that $3200 would be money well spent. It is a Jag afterall, not your run of the mill BMW or MBZ...
