About 6500 XJR/6s were built versus about 1000 (?) X300/XJ12s, so the 12 has the edge so far rarity goes.
Presently neither one seems to spark any interest except to Jaguar fans. I wouldn't get my hopes up about either becoming a "collectible" in the grand automotive scheme of things.
Both are great cars. I was looking for either one when I bought my XJR/6. It was just a case of the right XJR/6 comong up before the right XJ12 did.
Cheers

At this point, and at that price wouldnt the XJ12 be worth putting up in the garage and kept clean and healthy until fuel either changes or lowers?
I missed an opportunity on a 12cylinder last year by 15minutes. They only wanted $1500. It needed a couple of coils. I would have soaked that up in a heartbeat, but I missed it by - that much.

Those X300/V12s (X305) are really fabulous cars. They were the flagships of the fleet. If I had the means (and storage) I'd snap up a couple clean ones just to have them....even if they never increase in value as a "collectible".
It just seems tragic to let them end up in scrapyards but the market value is so low that buying/repairing/owning one would have to a matter of the heart and not the brain....like so many other Jags, I guess.

Of the two, I'd have a 1996 x305. If only the Xj12 made it to the US for the 1997 model year. The one (and perhaps only) difference between the 96-97 model year of the rear middle seat belt being a 3 point makes almost all the difference to me. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved an Xj12.
