In order to hot wire and run the wiper as a whole assembly ( this in order to eliminate the column switch and relays and wires ) you would apply 12 volts at the motor connector to Red ( fast ) or Blue ( slow ) and ground the solid black one , if you get the other Black / Pink one it won't harm it . Since it is a high current device you don't want to arc the pins so you can use a piece of copper tube and slide with some pinching contact onto the pins . On the other end of the copper tubes you can squeeze on the jumper wires to take the black to ground and the colors to power . You will still need a fuse soldiered in series on the colored wires test lead . You can ground at the aft firewall terminal post and get power from the left or right engine fuse box terminal post or as it follows back to the same aft firewall . Wet the windshield to reduce friction . I hope this wipes away your problems .

2 screws to open the motor. Could then easily see that brushes were intact and in order. Opened up that other box next to it and had a look at the big white plastic wheel. It also looked good, so we started measuring bits and pieces and found that a small diode had blown. Probably a 2 dollar fix I just need to find the correct one. Does anybody know the part number? Can't really see the writing on mine..

I'll open mine back up and look and see if it is a specific type of diode ( Zener , Shockley or whatever ) . I just purchased some for another project and they are really cheap just like me , at least that's what people say . Mine is off as a whole assembly as I was going after the parking micro switch and to clean it up as you open the bonnet . Been thinking of modifying the bonnet to have a electric riser for the wow factor . Had the fly out to repair one of these micro switches on one of our birds as it made an emergency landing . Diode there now , will lift the attach point to be able to read the numbers .

Numbers are 1.5KE36A and 1N6284A I don't recognize the manufactures symbol .

http://www.vishay.com/docs/88301/15ke.pdf

The 1N6284A is on page 2 about 15 down from the top

https://www.ebay.com/i/372019205377?chn=ps&dispItem=1

If you go to a electronics parts store they come in a package of about 25 . Might find some at a remote control model shop for they use these .

Thanks!

Aaaaannnd, ...... IT WORKS! 😀
That was one of the cheapest fixes on this car so far. And bloody well satisfying!

I'm so relieved I didn't have to to remove the whole thing.

So... what's next 😂

Now your up to speed on how to cheaply repair the cabin heater pump motor brushes . Better then replacing the 3-400 dollar motor . Brush X2 is a 33A .

Hi all

I am currently trying to remove the wiper motor assembly from my Xj6 X300. Can somebody tell me how to undo the middle of the 3 slide catches that hold the bottom of the plastic to the firewall. I used a bent coat hanger with a hook on the end to release the left and right ones that you can see. The middle one is not visible as far as I can see. Very frustrating design by some evil designer.

Editing

If you slide your finger along the bottom edge of the black plastic you should feel it . I used a second coat hanger to draw the first one over . I think I had the electric motor housing off for more room and the heater hoses

You must have small hands lol, there is no way my hand are getting anywhere near the clip.

So you inserted another coat hanger from the passenger side to pull the coat hanger from the drivers side?

Hey, everyone! Im reviving this 5 year old thread, hope thats allowed.
Edit - I managed to fix it, so ill explain to to anyone lucky enough as me - turns out that the thread on the wiper blade arm side was twisted (the same part circled in red i couldnt figure out how to take off before). So its a cheap fix, ill just get a new one. Long version - I took everything apart, including the motor, linkages etc. Nothing seemed to be off. Assembled everything back together and put back in the car, lookied like evrything is working. Then I noticed the metal thread that connects to the wiper blade arm is threaded so i checked the wiper blade thread - it was twisted to hell. I got very lucky it wasnt anything too expensive.

The problem that was there:
I seem to have a similar problem but my motor/gearbox is still turning properly. I took the gearbox cover off and took a look while wipers are on, everything turns there. The blade itself doesnt move if its put down on the window, but turns normally if its hoisted up (as youd do when cleaning ice from the windshield). Something is causing the power of the motor to not fully transfer to the linkage (?). I tried taking the LNA7001AC part off to see if the linkages are maybe damaged, but I cannot seem to be able to take the plastic part off off the windshield (with the 3 screws, plastic which holds wiper fluid sprayers etc. It seems to me there might be an extra screw/bolt down there that holds the LNA7001AC part inside the car frame? Also, how do you remove the actual wiper blade part from the linkages to get the linkages out? The sliding parts were slightly rusted so i sprayed some rust remover on it, im sure itll be easy to remove once i get proper tools to the car, as they moved with just finger strength alone, but not fully.
Perhaps, it could be the motor as well? How do you take that off without removing the whole system? I did not see any screws around the motor.
Thanks for any replies!

Edit - added a picture, more specifically, how do you take off the red circled part
also, it became damaged like this because i had wipers on when i turned off the car, the windshield was frozen next time i turned the car on, and here was some metallic breaking sound. Wipers didnt work properly after i cleaned the ice off
