Default Wiper issue on XJR

I recently picked up a 95 XJR that is having some wiper motor issues. The wiper functions correctly if it is in the raised position but when I put it on the windshield it makes terrible noises and no movement. I pulled the cover off the wiper motor and the large plastic gear is turning but not the center post. Has the gear broken or are these press fit together? How do I pull the gear out to inspect it?

My wiper whole unit is out of the car as I had it all apart so give me a minute and I'll look at it , If I remember there is a center bolt on the shaft that is inside the black large cover as you remove it from the firewall

Yes it does , to remove the bottom clips I took a heavy metal coat hanger and bent a hook to pull the clips , used another hanger to guide the first one in place from the other side . spray the clips first . It is a splined post and maybe the bolt backed off that pinches it together .

Where at in Missouri ?

Awesome thanks!

I am over in Columbia. I purchased this car to compete in the Grassroots Motorsports $2017 Challenge but it is too nice to strip so I am going to clean it up, tune it up as best I can, and run it in full luxury.

XJ6 x300,
Electrolux wiper motor.
I have exactly the same issue. How is the white gear attached to the spindle. Ii it splined onto the shaft or attached by some other means. As soon as the wipers touch the screen they stop but the gear still rotates and the center hub rotates.

Cheers

Under the large black cover there is articulating motion linkage in that the white gear shaft may have lost the one bolt inside the cover holding the linkage on .

Hi All.
Just found another problem with the wipers, to go along with the slipping gear.

Low speed and intermittent functions to not work. The low speed sometimes moves very slowly and the intermittent does not move at all. When on low speed, and I put my hand on the motor, I cannot feel any movement in the motor. On high speed you can feel the motor rotating.

Is this a different problem than the gear slipping, perhaps caused by the switch or a relay?

Cheers
