Wow, someone is offering $7000 with airbag fault
Darrol here
Hi
Yes, the first person that came to look at my 97 XJ6 says they will pay the $7000 I am asking ( with the airbag fault ). He just wants to look into what it would cost to fix the droopy headliner. I wasn't even aware that it was drooping until they climbed in the back seat. I wonder if the detail shop it was at last week did that-----I'll talk to them about it but sure they will say they didn't do it.
The guy also asked me to determine if the air just needs recharging or is it something else. I assumed it just needs recharging since it hasn't been charged in the 9 years I have owned it and the air coming out is slightly cool. Is there a way to determine if the air system simply needs recharging without charging it?
Lastly, ( I don't know if I want to share this ) but, this is going to be very hard to sell and I am not sure I want to. I am making a list of pros and cons now--ha,ha. And the cons of selling it is getting much bigger than the pros.
thanks again

Darrol-
I'd say if you can do $5k or better, sell it! If you miss it too much, you could still pick up another one later, and probably for less.
Maybe your prospect would be happy with a $500 (+ or -) credit off of the $7k, for those items needing attention? Wouldn't hurt to mention how much you love the car. Good luck!

The headliner isn't a huge deal to fix (at least it isn't in the XJ8s and some other cars I've owned, probably $200 to have someone else do it). I'd buy one of thsoe AC recharge kits you see advertised on TV and recharge the AC yourself -- if that's all it needs, it's a simple and cheap solution. The airbag light probably isn't a big deal so don't get conned into a big discount for that.
I'd offer the guy a couple hundred off for the headliner, and maybe throw in an additional $100 bucks for the other items, and offer to sell it for $6,700.
Good luck with the sale.
