Pull the harness off the pump and check to see if it is getting power at ignition on and while cranking. If you're not getting power then your problem lies within a fuse, relay, or wiring.

If it does have power, then suspect a faulty pump.

The X300 fuel pump is in the tank. The pumps are known to fail and there is a rubber hose secured by a screw clamp on the pump's outlet inside the tank that is known to come off. Test for current draw to confirm the pump is running. Either way, you must remove the tank for repair.

BTW, Nigel
The fuelm pump only pumps for a few seconds on crank until it sees continuous pulses from the ckps. What is your tach doing while you crank? If you do not see 2-300 rpm, then look for crank position sensor problem.

Do what I suggested originally and check if you're getting power down at the pump harness. You know the pump is good...so if you're getting power down to the pump as well then you know your problem isn't with fuel delivery (unless you have a VERY plugged up fuel filter).

3 major things you need for a vehicle to start and run...fuel, spark, and compression. Find out which you're lacking and we can help you further from there.

I also have a 1995 X300 and have no fuel. I have got to a point where I have hot wired the fuel pump and can start the car so my guess is that the problem is a fuse of a relay.
can anyone help me with which ones to check.

Check the crank shaft position sensor. A no start condition is a symptom of failure.

Crank is fine as the car will start when I hot wire the fuel pump.
Can anyone advise me where to find the fuse and relay.
thanks Rob

The fuel pump relay is located in the trunk fuse box behind the battery. If original, it's blue in color.

Hi I know i am several years after the first problem, but i too have a problem with starting x300 1994
My car cranks very well but wont fire 'check engine' warning light
i systematically swapped out the black relays in the engine bay , and then the blue ones in the boot even the black '423' one in the boot, car still wont fire.
Called the break down guy he squirted 'easy start' in the air line and car started but as soon as the turn off the ignition the car stops and wont start.
I bought a draper obd2 reader and gave error p1177 something to do with the fuel or maybe pressure..
Does anyone have anymore info on which relays need to be swapped

I read you checked ALL the relays ! At the advice of a forum member he advised me to check the 4 black relays on the passenger side (USA models) behind the headlight in the engine compartment. I think one is for the ECU, this one was my no starting/stalling problem on my 95 6cyl. I forget which one of the four it is but they are all interchangeable in order to switch around. . Also one is for the wipers. Don't know what the other two do. Anyway MAYBE this will send you in the right direction .

Check this X300 Forum page for this same problem . Thread is "96 X300" title. Four black relays behind right side headlight in the engine compartment.
