x300 camshaft question

I will be looking at a 96 xj6 tomorrow, and I recall some discussion about a cam tie down or strap mod. Was this something to do with the x300, or have I been visiting too many forums?

I assume you are thinking of the timing chain tensioner replacement method for the X-308. The X-300 engine suffers no such weakness.

Could you be thinking of the "stake down" kit used on the tappet guides on the old 4.2 "XK" engines? If so, that modification doesn't apply to the newer engines.

No, I'm very familiar with that. I tried searching, but I found nothing. I give up, thanks for the help. I'm in Douglasville, maybe we will meet up some day. I plan on buying a xj6 now, then eventually a xk8 also.

If you get either one and need tools or the dealer level software, just get in touch. I've got most of what you will need and a bunch of X-300 spares.
