yeah my understanding is electronically they are the same. so in that regard plug and play.
but yeah the boot would need changing, and would need to find a way to mount it.
was thinking just a bracket over the top holding them in place

Just a quick update, I got the Car started on the Coyote Coil last night, didn't take it out for drive but it started, ran smooth . I really couldn't notice any difference. I will be taking it out to do 100 or so kms later this week.

Update on coils:

Still haven't installed the Prenco coil I mentioned earlier, as the Made In Japan ones I got back in 2016 are still running strong. I did notice that Walker Thunderspark coils (the ones with brass inserts that could be good) are, after a short time in stock, becoming out of stock or with limited supply all over the internet, so I just ordered the last five available on Rockauto and will report when they arrive.

The Walker Thundersparks just arrived, and it looks like they are the real deal, assuming they all look like the one that I opened up.

Now all you have to do is install them, and let us know when/if they fail. They look good to me!

Yup, as soon as I bring my XJR out of hibernation, I'm putting those in along with the Prenco one that I bought earlier. The Made In Japan ones from 2016 that are currently on the car have been running with no problems at all, so they'll make a fine backup set.

Spud,
odds on the idle issue is your TPS. There is no manual adjustment as such.
There is a heap of bedtime reading on the subject on here, but all roads seem to lead to Rome (TPS!)
Good luck finding someone who can do the reset, which won’t fix a worn out TPS. A new TPS likely won’t need a reset.
Ask me how I found all of this out…..!

I noticed on the Walker website they offer a TPS for the X300

I am always temped to grab one at a salvage yard as a backup.

Search | Walker Products Catalog (opticatonline.com)

hey yeah,
got it booked in with Dr Jag (Greg Parsons) who is one of the top Jag guys round here.
he has all the equipment and knows these cars real well as he himself also has one. Which he has at some point rebuilt (as much as parts were available anyway).
if that fails i have been pointed to someone else around here Cambo who could likely do it also but when i spoke with him he was real busy at the time.
i assume it is the calibration of the TPS as when i hook up OBDII to Tourque app i am getting reading all the way from 12.5% @ idle to 100% at WOT. so it is reading, it may just p[otentially be out of sync with where it should be at

I should provide an update. Earlier this year, I changed the spark plugs on my XJR (same copper Champions as the updated TSB suggests), and while I had the (fully-working) Diamond coils out I replaced them with the mix of Prenco and Walker coils I'd gotten as shown above. So far it's been running identically; I have a slightly rough idle when warmed up, but that still happened beforehand and I suspect there's an issue with my fuel injectors. For now I can still vouch for Prenco and Walker coils so long as they don't change suppliers; as always, look for the signs that they're the right ones (brass bolt isolators and a rectangular piece in the dielectric material. Partsgeek and Rockauto still have the Walkers for roughly $30 apiece, while FCPEuro has the Prencos for $44 apiece, but it's hard to say if that's worth the higher price.

EDIT: And it looks like the good Eurospares may also be back! Haven't tested them myself though. https://www.partsgeek.com/29h21b8-ja...tion-coil.html
