The starter motor also no longer receives an electric signal to start, and the gear shift is now stuck in 'P'. Additionally, the central locking system is not working anymore.

I have since charged the battery and also tried a different battery. But this does not seem to solve the issue.

Does anyone have advice on what next step I can take?
What solved this for me is a ground connection under the steering wheel, behind your gas pedal, you will need to peel back the carpet about 1 inch. After you clean this, put your fully charged battery back in and give it 12 hours, then try to start. I would keep the doors unlocked throughout this process as well.
