Default X300 Stereo stopped working.....HELP

Hi,Head unit had been perfect until a few weeks ago, when the controls stopped working, wouldn`t turn off, couldn`t change volume,or anything really.
Looked on here and it sounded like a fault with the main on/off button, anyway, took it to pieces and cleaned all the contacts, put it back together, and everything was fine, until yesterday when the same fault re-appeared.
Had another look again today, cleaned the contacts again, put it back together and.........NOTHING !
No power at all to stereo,so thought a fuse must have blown, checked the handbook, and it says the fuses for stereo are in the boot, both of these were fine,so now I`m stumped,I`m not very good with electrics,so would appreciate some help.
Cheers Pete.

Depending on if you have the premium option with the CD player and power amplifier both in the trunk

You have a couple of fuses in the left heelboard fuse box where fuse 10 , 12 , 14 , 16 require the relay in the corner of the fuse box to close

You will still have the fuse in the trunk running the antenna retraction

So we are going to look at the power sources to the stereo system ( to cover the base ) before looking at the common issue of the on / off encoder switch

Editing

Car side connector socket # 1

# 10

# 11

Socket 3 and 4 have to do with stereo head lights

Hi,got the CD changer in the boot(trunk),not sure about the amp,so there are some fuses under the rear seats that affect the stereo ?

With the CD you will have the final power amplifier in the trunk I think on the car's left side under the side panel

Looking up fuse list and will be out running errand

See page 22

Your correct on the left heelboard fuse box , I mixed it with the instrument cluster

Beginning on page 22 shows nothing for the stereo on the heelboard fuse boxes until the next page trunk fuse box

Trunk fuse # 1 , 8 , and 10

We're covering your power sources at this point

You have probably noticed the missing speaker wires missing at the head for your premium setup with the seperate final stage power amplifier , you would have to feel the power amplifier for getting warm as it can shut down for thermal protection

But you may have observed the head going dark or staying dark or the FM working but not the CD which has it's own service age issues

There is the thing from reading of the round cable from the head to the power amplifier going bad but can't come up with a way to test that

Hi,an update, after taking it out again, and getting an electrician friend to have a look,it looks like there is power getting into the unit, and there is power at the on/off button, but it still doesn`t work.
He reckons that when you press the on/off button this sends a signal elsewhere to actually turn it on,etc,so it looks like there is a fault in another component,so I`m thinking of getting a second hand replacement, there is a Jag man near me who will probably have a few.
The thing I`m worried about is that obviously these radios are coded and I`m guessing the repleacement won`t come with the radio code,so is it possible to bypass the code,or get it working without the code ?
