X300 XJ6 ABS TRAC MIL failure light problem solved

ABS and TRAC indicator lights on a 1995 XJ6. I found a schematic online and referred to this to check the resistance of the wheel sensors at the module connector in the right rear of the engine compartment and they were ok. I then read about the ABS module motor connector “dry” (cracked) solder joint issue and sure enough that’s what it was. This is the large 2 pin connector on the top right side of the ABS module; the solder joint to the circuit board gets cracked and it need to get re-soldered.
I initially drilled 2 holes in the module cover behind the connector, but it was tough to do a good solder job because I really could not see what I was doing. I ended up making a larger rectangular cutout in the cover. I think this is easier than cutting the whole module cover off. There is conformal coat on the board so be sure to scrape this off. Adding extra solder helps to get the heat into the joint; you need a large soldering gun. I then glued scrap plastic to the back to seal it up.
With the good connector connection I was measuring about 182K ohms across the pins. Before I fixed it it was an open circuit. So this is a test you can do before you take the module off the car.
When I was doing the job I noticed the insulation on the TRAC throttle control motor disintegrating. This is just in front of the ABS module on cars with traction control. Yes, it is a German Bosch unit. I fixed this with shrink sleeving but electrical tape would prolly work OK.
Hope this info helps somebody.
