X300 XJR Fuel/Pump problem
#21
Thanks, RJ237 - but now I have another question: I just now went out to have a closer look at what's involved with removing the tank, in particular with respect to the area around the filler neck. In order to see things better I removed the gas cap and found, much to my surprise, that the tank was under pressure. I don't recall this ever being the case before, like when I stop for gas. And the car hasn't been run for at least 24 hours. Does this indicate a problem? Also, now that I think about it, it does seem that my stalling problem is more prevalent on hot, sunny days than it is at night or when it's cooler. Thoughts??

I have just returned from two trips abroad and have had time to re-examine the XJR. It was the fuel pipe in the tank having blown off the pump. Now fitted with a proper fuel pipe clip as worm drive clips do not apply even pressure around the circumference. Parcel shelf cut using large tin snips cutting two lines from speaker hole and folding back for access. After work folded back and speaker blank screws hold it in place sufficiently. I will start a new thread wrt to an engine swap in a 4.0 litre XJ Sport Manual.
