X308 muffler on X300?
So we know that Jaguar carried over a lot of their engineering from the X300 to the X308. Does that extend to sharing exhaust configuration? I ask because, at first glance, it looks like there's some similarity to the piping location and mounting points of the rearmost pair of mufflers on both the X308 and the X300, even if the parts numbers and exact pipe routing differs a bit. I've been trying to find replacements for the rear boxes on my X300, and the equivalent X308 part seems both cheaper and more plentiful. It'd be great if anyone who's tried interchanging them can speak to whether or not this is a possibility, or if they differ enough for it not to be doable. They seem to share the same rearmost exhaust mounting bushing (the L-shaped bracket with rubber mount points) so there seems to be some hope.

I believe the last pair of exhaust silencers + tips have the exact same form factor but I don't know if the internals are the same. Maybe the insides have different sound characteristics... However, I did find this listing on eBay by Simply Performance:

"This is a listing for a pair of X308 XJ8 XJR rear exhaust boxes and tips. These are made from a very high quality 304 stainless steel. They are a direct fit onto any X308 1997-2002, these also fit X300 XJ6."

X300 rear exhausts
Loving the £619 stainless rear boxes and tips.
My 96 X300 3.2 came with a rear box delete which made too much of a drone.
A pair of mild steel boxes were £130 from eBay but I still need a pair of tips at a reasonable price - the old ones had been welded in to the straight pipe. Mean Scotsman that I am
Interesting to see the X308 boxes look like a fit.
