When you take it apart you can see that the ribbon runs from the circuit board in the back of the black box to the front and into the glass clock display. The two bulbs come in through the circuit board and stick out right under the ribbon. As far as I know any X300, whether VDP, L, XJ6 or 12 with or without seat heaters still has this same configuration.

If those of you without seat heaters will look, there are unused sockets for the bulbs for the seat heater buttons on the circuit boards for those cars even though the exterior black plastic is completely different.

I must assume then that you have access to the proper tools and processes to do this type of work.

From what your post indicates this adhesive must be stored in the freezer and will form a bond when compressed at the temperature of boiling water. Would it be feasible to use the adhesive, clamp the ribbon in place for the pressure and then place the assembly into a large freezer bag and then into a pot of boiling water?

I know my soldering iron is way too hot for this operation. A heat gun such as a Wagner, or other comparable tool can range in settings from 100F to 750F. Would a tool like that suffice???

Um.... I found a price for that adhesive film. 138.00usd for a roll. At that price it would be cheaper for me to have it sent to the website mentioned before to be repaired. PM me if anyone is interested in the link.

I still like the idea of figuring out the problem at home though. Something about possessing the "know how".
