XJ6 96 Steering rack/pump question.
hello everyone, I own a Beautiful 96 XJ6 with about 99k on it. I had a problem with the steering rack leaking and I had it rebuilt. Now the steering rack is not leaking but when I am driving, expically at higher speeds I hear a humming noise coming from my steering pump. I notcied that only when I make right hand turns the humming is very lod, and you can feel like vibartion throught the steering wheel. When I turn left I dont hear the humming, and when I drive straight I hear the humming a little bit but the viabration and is still in the wheel. I Have checked the hoses and the pump fluid is full. Is it maybe something wrong with the internal of the rack where I may need a whole new rack? Or is this something mabye with the steering pump itselt? Any inputs would help, thanks.

Sure you figured this out by now...but this sounds like a rack problem and not a pump problem. If the problem was in the pump you would get the humming no matter which way you turn the wheel. Being that you only get the humming when turning in one direction, this points to your rebuilt rack, and to be sounds like a bad valve
