Xj6 engine swap

Xj6 engine swap
So i have a 1995 xj6 and the motor just blew, so i was thinking instead of getting the same engine i would spring for the supercharged version. Now what im wondering is, is it worth it to do or no and also, are there any other compatible engines for my year from later years like with the supercharged v8 in later models instead of the inline 6

No.
Try "search" as it was covered extensively here fairly recently. If you had a 3.2 and fancied moving up to a 4.0 naturally aspirated, you "may" get by with just replacing the engine and transmission, but I'm not even sure about that. Come to think of it, that might be the only engine-swap scenario NOT already covered herein.

It's a big job to swap for a supercharged engine. Ideally, you'd have another XJR as a parts car. In addition to the engine, the transmission is different as is engine and transmission mounts, wiring harness, ECU's (both engine and transmission), air flow meter, exhaust, fuel tank and pumps, shifter and shift cable, driveshaft. There is probably more, but that's off the top of my head.
It would be easier to start with an XJR and swap in a VDP interior than put the XJR engine in a VDP.
A V8 is next to impossible because the ECU and electronics are much more integrated. The cars are much more heavily networked. You'd basically need to take everything electric out of an XJ8 and move it across, and that may or may not work. Even things like door locks would need to be changed or modified.

Parts book also shows different part numbers for the transmission. I think the 3.2 is mechanically controlled and the 4.0 is electronic.
