XJ6 VDP, key issue, seat issue, remote lock issue,
Wuzzup Jagers and Jagettes. Just got hold of a 96 that only has one key. Checked with local dealer $112.00, my a$$. Gonna get one on ebay like i read in an earlier post.
The seat issue is this. IT'S STUCK IN A "Little Old Lady" position. I'm thinking it's the switch but want a few opinions. Most of the functions do have a defined engagement click. The headrest engages up and down but doesn't retract. In one of the three L.O.L. memory positions the headrest retracts so that's pretty much a switch issue. The reclining switch only clicks in the forward position which is where it's stuck. I can hear the motor engaging forward but not backwards, and no click. How do you remove the switches from the seat to test, or is that better left up to an auto electrical repair shop?
The door locking is a serious issue for me. The drivers door has the only external key operated lock. I can't unlock the passenger door for my wife and that pisses me off. I feel too damn old to run around this car, and i refuse to suddenly stop being a gentleman. That's pretty much like.
Spoke to the jag dealer. He says the remote is no longer available through them. Q: Is there an after-marketer that can get one based on my VIN, or, can the system code be switched over to another remote code or vise-versa, or, does the system have to be switched out completely?
HELLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!

I can't help you with the seat issue but as for unlocking if you turn the key once it disarms the security system and unlocks the drivers door
Turn it right again and it will unlock all doors
Turn it right a third time and it opens the boot
If you can find another key fob there are instructions as to how to re program it on the site. Check the FAQ section there is alot of useful info
Mine is a 95 so things could be different it also would be good to track down an owners manual if you don't have one as these are useful also
Good luck with the jag

New developments
I know a great deal about Jags as this is my third (89, 92, now 96. All VDPs. Figured i could figure it out. I took the back off the seat, sprayed all the connector pins w/ electrical parts cleaner. The seat now works fine. I also found the remote, put in a new set of batts and it too is now working. My whole point was not to have to open the dr. side door (with a key) then run around the car to courteously open the pass. door for my wife. Now that the remote is functioning i'm a happy man. The key issue is currently getting solved.
Bad news. Just found out i need a new rear end. DAYUM!!
