Default XJ6 X300 No start, no crank - RESOLVED

Hi. Im new here and i need some help! I have some trouble with an xj6 x300, 3,2, from 1997..work all on car windows, lights, interior lights but not crank, i have two BPM and with both same problem, i checked fuse and relay are all ok, i can diagnose only engine and i have error: p1621 is about immobilizer. Central locking not work and i checked transponder coil and have no voltage/signal there. Where can be problem? I worked for two weeks on this car and I still haven't found the problem. Thanks.

What is the recent history of the car? Did this problem occur suddenly? What have you checked in the 2 weeks you have been working on it?

Has the car been off the road for a long time? This is a common theme in previous cases with the Security module.

On the Centre Console Door Locking switch there is a Red LED. What is the status of this LED when ignition is on and off?

When the immobiliser has been activated, the tell tale sign is that the "Check Engine" light on the dashboard goes off after turning on the ignition (before trying to crank). If the "Check Engine" light stays on, then the immobiliser is good.

Check out these few things and give us more information to try and help you.

Mine did dimilar, it was an XJ6 3.2 base model (poverty pack down here)

IF, I put the thing is "P" and the "P" did NOT light up RED, then the central locking did not work, the starter did NOT activate, etc etc. That RED "P" is mandatory for things to do as designed.

I slipped the lever back to "N", and the "N" lit up, engine started, locks still AWOL, as they require "P".

Cleaned the Linear switch, adjusted it slightly, all good.

Same happened with the "R", and a clean sort of fixed it, and I sold the car. Had an offer way too good to walk away from.

If that "P" doe not light up, when in "P", many things do not work.

Starter solenoid? Check it is getting power when you turn the key to crank.

Sounds like you have some sophisticated equipment and good knowledge. The Check Engine light going off after 2 seconds means the car is immobilised.

There have been threads in the past with a similar story to yours where the car has been laid up for a long time and then this happens. Unfortunately the owners give up and we never hear a solution.

I think you have a faulty Security Module. You can get them from ebay for not too much money and that's what I would try if you can program the keys to it. After 2 weeks testing I think throwing a few parts at it is justified.

The other part that could be faulty is the Reader/Exciter module. I am attaching a copy of the Security System manual that may be some help. Good luck and please let us know if you figure it out.

Agreed. Sounds like a dead BPM (Body Processor Module) or the wiring to/from it.

Hey! I have the same problem as b1mcp, did you get it resolved by replacing the BPM?

There is a hard reset to the BPM , but there is a precaution of X300s outside of the USA market of the stereo head being locked out without a stereo reset code

Would removing the radio avoid any risk, or is it in essence deleting the radio code known to the car?

That was always the question on other X300 inside the USA or in what may be included North American markets

The theft protection would be in removing the stereo head connectors as the battery is still hooked up

On my USA model I am fortunate that in performing a hard reset there is no effect on the stereo head

So in the older instructions of a hard reset in sequencing the ignition key the power to components that are not hot at all times will be dropped out instantaneously on the ignition key step

Only the items hot at all times like the BPM , SLCM , and others can drain

Fuse # 10 , 12 , 14 , and 16 on all fuse boxes are affected by key rotation

I have the same problem, the central locking will not work and no cranking of the car.

How do I reset the BPM?

TIA Adam

Without a hard reset you can check the main SLCM fuse as either # 3 or # 4 trunk

Great Britain X300 V - 12 with immobilization chip in key

Your V - 12 starter circuit is a little tiny bit different than the inline 6

Do you have the original Jaguar / Alpine AJ9500A stereo head ?

Good car and FOB battery ( FOBs can be put in backwards or cheap batteries )

Never install the car battery backwards , needs positive post fwd

To split the starter circuit in half does the large starter solenoid relay click with your finger on it ? must feel as other relays click at the same time
