Before changing the chip in key coil exciter , you can check for power on pin X

This power comes from the trunk through the troublesome 48 pin connector above the fuel tank , Do not remove but ensure it has a tie wrap on it keeping it closed

The check engine light is going out, This means the car is immobilised. I think I need to change the Security Module, Can anyone tell me where this is located, please?

Is the swap an easy job?

How do I reset the BPM? Where is this?

TIA

Adam

The BPM is located behind the glove box with the connectors facing away from you

BPM hard reset is at the same time and procedure as the SLCM

Use a trim removal tool or sorts to pull out the big round button / Christmas tree and the unit will slid down out of its carrier

Not a fun job so avoid if you can

Pic if I can find it

The SLCM is above the fuel tank toward the fuel fill cap side and is mounted at a slight angle , keep track of the 4 connectors positions from top to bottom

These connectors can get water in them after a heavy rain if the fuel fill well water drain line is clogged ( common ) would need hard reset to bring the SLCM back to Zero State

Remove the battery positive post on both SLCM and BPM on installation and removal

This is a pic for a right hand steering model

The pin that the BPM provides a ground to close the starter solenoid relay is FC1 - 33 ( Red / Orange wire ) this wire color changes to Green / Orange at the starter solenoid relay

The FC1 - 33 pin to the starter solenoid relay is where 3.2 or 4.0 engine different transmission combo makes a difference

Where is pin X and do I check that 12V is on the pin?

Does anyone have a pic of the MIL?

3.2 or 4.0 liter

Yes on 12 V ( more like B + which is higher and better to have a load test lamp on it verifying current to power the device ( faulting above fuel tank connector ( BT - 4 ) connection )

Mil / CEL list on page 110 for the AJ16 engine

801S TITLE (jagrepair.com)

Looking for pin X

Pix X is hard to find as the chip in key RF exciter / decoder / transceiver is left out of prints sometimes , seen the power pin X somewhere before ( B1MCP ? )

Pin X should be easy to identify as the only wire with power on it as you remove connector on the decoder module , 2 wires should go to key barrel exciter coil and 1 to the engine ECU as the enabling immobilizer ( digital )

Thank you for all your help, it really is appreciated.

I need to change my security locking and control module SLCM not the BPM. On the SLCM I change eeprom 93cp46 as this contains my data. The SLCM in in the boot/trunk near the fuel filler. I keep note of the connections and disconnect the battery when I do this.

Once again, thank you for all your help.

Adam
