Default XJ6 X300, what's this exterior trim piece called?

I'm missing a black end piece to this chrome trim on both sides of my car. What's this piece called? A part number would be super helpful as well. Can it even be purchased separately? Is the left and ride hand side piece the same part? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I found my piece on E- bay out of Los Angeles, California

Paris , California was the salvage yard location

valdezgregorio | eBay Stores

E - mail them your picture and they will find one for you

It comes as the full door lenth trim piece and the SWB and the LWB have the same front door length

left and right are different.

i'll have to look at it again as mine is loosely installed to come back off easily for paint repairs.

M'Lady Penelope is the same Metalic Nautilus green / blue color, but the clear coat went bad durung kudney failure and getting over to dialysis machine.

I put the chrome mirrors on

In looking at mine the horizontal chrome piece comes to an end with the black plastic cap you have in your pic , so you don't need that long horizontal chrome piece

the missing piece at the bottom of the side window vertical chrome trim is what appears to be attached to the side window vertical chrome.

I broke mine off just now tugging on it so will be looking further at the salvage yard for a replacement and if the small black piece can be removed without the side window vertical chrome strip.

Now I see how yours went missing as they age and get brittle., you're not the only one

Thus a candidate for a 3D printed replacement part that someone is doing on certain things on the X300 like the FOB battery cover

I plan on going to the salvage yard on Thursday arter a morning hospital lab

At lest it is not invlved with the front windshield and will have to dig further

I think from the factory it's part of the chrome rail looking at the parts manual. I can't see it separate in the book. I think mine are intact. I'll take a look maybe tomorrow and if I can get it off easily I may be able to model it and print it. Or faster, just get it from a breaker. Left front door, right?

" I think mine are intact "

I was surprised how fragile it was and maybe a garaged example would have held up good enough to handle.

Mine was garaged for a while with the previous owner

the end piece is at the bottem of the gutter chrome trim on the chassis side and not the door

@Parker 7 if by any chance you do happen to see any when at the wrecker, i think i know someone who may be interested....
asking for a friend of course....

but yeah maybe someone here with a 3D printer could scan and print replacements. i would in TPU.

what we need is someone with a 3d printer to start a business selling printed replacement parts....
i know nilesh has done potentiometer repair pieces,
i saw someone else did ac vent replacment parts, and someone else did sunroof replacment parts...
would be great if we could somehow get a one stop replacement shop.
or if people could upload all the files to thingyverse and then we could outsource printing to whomever was keen to help at the time....

That edge and point is extremely sharp!! Especially since it is metal, not plastic. They should have designed it longer, to disappear behind the fender. I attempted to bend the point inwards a bit until a solution is reached. Black electrical tape might be a temporary option.

The one recent example of X300 that came into the salvage yard based on its center console leather condition. Was probably garaged if that makes a difference on the brittleness of the part in question.

That's why it would have been a waste to not remove the leather center console lid and cupholder and find a it new home

When it gets to you you will have the prettiest Jaguar on the whole block

There is some part printing on the X308 section

I wonder if it can just be cast, and I know of a good 2-part plastic material in black from Dupont here in town as they have a plant

I plan to get a 3D scanner so that I can print a lot of the parts that you just can't get anymore without paying an arm and a leg. I have printed out some cool things that are out there, but there are a lot of pieces that there are no plans for. I have tried many junkyards for some of these parts, and most of them I pull are in just as bad shape as what I am replacing. With a 3D printer, you can also print them in just about any color.

i am certainly considering getting one...
but yeah really need a printer and a scanner.
also a bit of a learning curve learning how to use it esp for some materials.

but yeah having a database of models for car parts would be an amazing resource as it is only going to get harder and harder to find a lot of these little pieces in good shape.

I have the printer, and if you are looking for a recommendation, I bought this one and love it.
3D Printer 3D Printer
. There are a few scanners I am looking at but still not sure. Not going to spend 3K for the best. The ones I am looking at are about $700ish. Once I get it I have a lot of scanning to do.
