Default XJR - Diagnostics vs control

I am searching for an X306 (X300 XJR). But before I take the plunge, are there any (many?) tasks in repair and maintenance that require a full blown system like Autologic in orsder to undertake repair? E.g. XF requires such a system to release the electric parking brake when replacing rear discs and pads. I do not want another car where I aim to do the work myself to be dependent on a pro system. I am OK to invest in ë.g. Autoenginuity with Jag extension (although it does not look like they cover X300?).

EDIT: Autoenginuity can do that for XF. I should have checked that earlier.

You're smart to consider this aspect of ownership.

Recalibrating oxygen sensors, TPS, and Idle Air Control are the three that come to mind.

I drove an XJR/6 for many years and there wasn't much out there to help a DIYer in this regard. That was a number of years ago. My memory is a bit foggy but I recall the choices were very limited and expensive, aimed more at professional repair shops than DIYers.

The passing of time may have changed things.

Other will chime in with better input.

Cheers

The only thing that ever really needs a WinXP laptop and some ancient dongle (Ford Rotunda VCM I) is the TPS calibration and oxygen sensor orientation. The IACV is self calibrating, it’s just commanded by throttle position reading. O2s may get confused when replaced and need “reorientation” but I’ve never experienced that even after unplugging and crossing wires. At least here in the states there’s a few dealers that can do this stuff for you at reasonable rates.

Nothing else in the car can be programmed or requires computer assistance as far as I know.

I'd like to see something that will program the BPM to keep the dome lights on for another minute! If I'm slow to exit (i.e. listening to music) and I'm collecting my things at my leisure, the dome lights seem to go out right before I'm done. That is very annoying when its dark. Jaguars shouldn't annoy.

Wondering out loud: Does a PDU have that abillity, or was this a "factory programmed" BPM function?
