Default XJR ECU and transmission: aftermarket TCU possible?

Would the auto trans ECU on an XJR still function properly with an aftermarket controller running the 4l80e? There are a host of performance options for the GM trans, some allowing paddle shifters. I'm wondering if the ECU would freak out with the trans. disconnected.

Also - all X300 XJRs had the powerlok LSD, yes?

The trans control module does communicate with other systems, including the engine mangement ECU. If it (the TCM) was abandoned there's bound to be some sort of reaction from the other systems. How bad/how much of a reaction will have to be dicussed.

Yes, limted slip diff was standard issue on the XJR/6

Cheers

I haven't been able to get a definite answer from reading on any manual transmission swaps (which is sort of the same thing, electronically). Some sources say you need a manual-trans ECU (indicating the ECU isn't happy with the auto trans TCM missing) while others says it's pretty much fine to abandon the TCM.

Hi Crashtest
I have done a manual trans conversion from auto and removed the TCM with no real problems. The only thing that did happen accasionaly was when pulling up at traffic lights when doing higher than legal speed the revs would drop to quickly and the engine would stall but always started up straight away. This I believe would be because the main ECU still thought it was auto and with the manual they have a different rev range. The auto and manual cars have the same ECU but are mapped different. I had mine remapped by XJengineer re ANDY now no problems.
Cheers Ray
