XJR - Oatmeal or not oatmeal anymore?
Hi everyone,
I'm now focusing on revamping the interior of the car (while waiting for my new japanese coils......)
Some of the light color panel in the car (lower trim) are quite damaged and/or scratched. So I decided to purchase panels online. After checking the color of my car, which is AGD/oatmeal, I purchased a few pieces (new seat switches, glove box, under steering wheel panel, belt buckles, etc...).
While the seat switches are matching the seat color (!!!), I found the glovebox and under steering wheel panel not matching at all... I thought it was a mistake from the seller (as there is no code to identify) but same goes for the belt buckles (the part number is the same but color look lighter on the items I just purchased). The previous glove box was matching the seat, door panel, etc...
I also purchased leather dye to recolor some of the door panel which lost its color after washing... after applying the dye, it looks also lighter than the original color...
I cannot believe that the seat/belt buckles/interior trims changed color the same way over time except if it was repainted at some point... Can it be? When I look at the seat buckle now + its surrounding
On top, the original color from my car, bottom the new used items purchased
, I feel that it was repainted... but it is difficult to see it on the rest...
Have you seen such oatmeal color before?

JLR Trim Code references the main colour used on the seats and secondary colours could be specified by original buyers for e.g. steering wheel. Always difficult to be certain with photos but the lower used trim sections purchased look more like NED (Ivory) than AGD (Oatmeal).
My XK8 was AGD upper on the dash and steering wheel with NED lower on the lower trim which illustrates the contrast:
I recall the X300 Sovereign was offered in the Europe market with similar upper/lower contrasting colours.

I would agree with GGG, from the photo they look more like Ivory than oatmeal. The part numbers are colour specific I believe, so you could cross check with Jaguar classic parts to see which colour they are. In any event, I guess whatever colour they are / were, they dont match now. If you still have the original trim panels which started life as oatmeal, I would have thought they would, unlike the seats, stand up to vigorous cleaning?

Thanks guys,
I honestly think there is something wrong...
I mean just look at the comparison of the belt buckles, between the "original" color and the new used one (note that the color of the new belt buckle is matching the new AGD glove box/under panel, so my purchased items are confirmed to be AGD)
I have a feeling that the car was refitted with AGD part which were repainted...and so it might be a Nimbus grey..."old" Nimbus grey... Is there any way to find our the code somewhere? I cannot find the jaguar sticker at all...
Yet, the door panels/under dashboard do not look like nimbus grey to me...
I am putting some pictures just for your reference. Note that the seat buckles have the same AGD part number...

Those dash panels look to be Cream (not quite as light as Ivory). Looks like some painting will need to be done. The factory really should have stamped the parts with the color code. The color differences are subtle until you get them next to each other. Same with Oatmeal & Nimbus.

The question is on the seat buckle, that carry the AGD code (so no doubt about the color coding). On the left is my current one and on the right is the one that I just received. I can see that the buckle were repainted somehow...if I scratch it very strongly, paint come off...
So maybe some owner before took the effort to repaint all the seats and door panels with a common color... a kind of oatmeal...
I also notice on various website that this Oatmeal colors comes out very differently depending of the supplier...
Does anyone have a good quality picture of a oatmeal interior (just for my reference?)
Also, does anyone have a recommendation on quality leather dye (specifically for oatmeal) that you have used and got the exact match to their current oatmeal color?
