I bought this car about a month ago very cheap it had not been on the road over two years.

96 xjr is hard to start when cold, if it starts it fire,s on 3 or 4 then picks up. It idles a bit lumpy and you can see black smoke out the back .It drives ok like a rocket now .It did spauter about when you put your foot down But I have cleaned out the thottle body and lamber sencers put new plugs, and fuel filter, flesh petol,and it goes ok .but not right sill. I have put on die- and code p1621 comes up which is to do with imobliser ,can that make it run funny! I have only a key no phob it flashers and beebs when its locked and unlocked. maybe its to do with the coils I 'm not shore .I think thats why its been off the road the man I got it from said it ran ok but I did'nt trust him I thought I is well woth fixing it a clean car . Has any one got any idears

 

send it to a mechanic with enough basic knowledge on tuneups, he should be able to perform all the necessary check up from fuel system to electrical system. That is where you should start off.
