XJR specialties?

Hi all!
Looks like I'll be in the XJR club soon and still have parts of my 3.2l setting here...
Are there any parts of say drivetrain and brakes which are the same? Afaik the diff-ratio on the 3.2l is lower... And the ZF box is of cursed non-same...
How des it looks around the brakes? Are they the same size? I'd like to be able to use the 16" Dimpel rims I already have for winter.
I've been told that the compressor is a reliable piece of kit... Can a few more ponies be gained easily? Like with a turbo?
Cheers
Damien

Brakes are the same.
All the diffs interchange physically. And, yes, the XJR used the 3.27 where the others used 3.58, 3.77, or 4.09. And Limited Slip was standard on the XJR, optional on others
The suspension pieces interchange, mostly. Of course XJR springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars are 'sporty' specification. Look up the fairly recent discussion on rear suspension ....mono-strut versus....versus....versus something other than mono-strut. (A little brain fade this morning, sorry)
16" wheels are no problem on the XJR. I ran my XJR for years with 16-inchers
Cheers

Great great great Doug! Like always, you are the biggest help possible! If you were here in my area, I'd give you a beer! ![Big Grin](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
So, brakes are the same (no beefed up 17" stuff as it seems), the Dimpels will fit (great! Set of winter rims is already here then
). Great!
I haven't tested an XJR yet (I like to know most of all first, before I go and look) but what RPM is on the tachometer when doing say 70 mph (when automatic!)? I would then consider either:
- changing the differential against the XJ6 3.2l autobox one (taking the limited slip at the same time)
or
- keeping the standard XJR diff![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I don't know if this is a question easy enough to answer, but is the XJR set up the same as an XJ6 Sport? I know the sport is lower than the standard XJ6/XJ12...
Cheers again

I went from the 3.27 ratio to the 3.58 myself. Been some time since I really noticed but I think the RPM @ 70mph is about 2500....which was about a 200 RPM increase over the 3.27 ratio.
According to the spec pages the XJR is lower than the standard XJ6 as well....probably on a par with the XJ6 Sport. In terms of suspension tuning I'm betting the XJR and XJ6 Sport are very close. Technically the shocks, springs, and anti-roll bars were different (different part numbers) but I strongly suspect the differences were minor in terms of real world feel/driving experience.
Jaguar may have gently tweaked the specs simply so they could say that the suspension was "Specifically tuned for the 17" tires" . Speculation on my part.
Cheers

So waste of time then fitting a different ratio differential... I was thinking wrong in the sense that higher number, lower revs but it is of course the other way around (duuuuuuh)... ![Big Grin](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Regarding the lowering: I think I read somewhere that the "Sport" was just an XJR with no power
At least that is what I understand
