Xjr stuck in limp home mode
I have a 1996 xjr supercharged that is in limp mode. I have no warning lights or error codes. Someone on another forum said it could be the rear transmission mount which has come loose and putting a strain on the wiring loom from the trani ecu. Does anyone here agree? How easy is it to fix? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Craig

What exactly do you mean by "limp mode"? Just to give us a better idea. The rear tranny mount seems to be an issue in these X300 XJR cars, I'm told. I have an XJ6 with a grinding noise when in 3rd gear, and have been told by specialists the mount is to blame. Looking to replace that soon and see if it disappears.

Well since were on the subject of 1996 XJRs I might as well bring up a similar problem with mine. There's a nearby speedway that puts on an enormous car show and lets anyone with any type of vehicle pay $5 a run to go down an 8th mile track against another car.
Did it twice with the XJR6. Roared like it should have and had trac control off.
However, very weird feeling on the way home. Serious lack of power just moving up to 30 mph from a dead stop. Once it was going on highway it seemed OK. But heard something clanking around from passenger front side...
Needless to say got home looked under car and I had sheared off what I think is my serpentine belt....awesome right? Sorta would make sense since my fog lights and parking lights went out half way home(30 min drive) by themselves. Serpentine belt is what repowers alternator or something right? Only thing is not definite since the small pulley at the front of the Supercharger is where there is no longer a belt around...
So what happened my serpentine belt fly off that pulley as well as the other 2 or 3 in front of motor or did my Supercharger pulley fly off? One of the two has to be why it felt underpowered....someone help...just got back from a week in California and my Jag is sitting in garage with no belt being unloved...

Oh yes I realized how dumb I was about the Jag belt too... My main drive belt is fine now that I looked at it all more in detail. It controls my alternator, water pump, power steering, and AC. The belt that definitely went flying off is the one attached to my Supercharger. Very depressing, but that explains why it felt so underpowered about a week ago when I drove it home that night. It was a normal XJ6...lol. Either way Im ordering that belt tomorrow morning that belongs on the two pulleys and also wraps around the 2 inbetween idler pulleys. The XJR will be back up to par soon enough!
