I was reading the AJ16 engine management system posted by Parker 7 and found the page below interesting,

As stated, AJ16 crankcase vapor fed into the intake through a coolant heated restrictor. However, I can't find this arrangement on my valve cover area. Am I missing something?

The breather gasses due to the poor oil / air separator built into the inside of the valve cover would have guck build up of regulating devices like most common the throttle butterfly from closing hitting the idle mechanical stop to idle sensor value command that the throttle position sensor would trigger

From reading other as I don't have the SC engine this is a source of many SC idle issues

There have been a couple of air / ail separator refinements in a couple of TSBs , The item you mentioned may have been deleted as causing more problems than worth

This TBS pertains to the normally aspirated but............................................... .....

Thanks for the information. The TBS just gave me an idea to use my existing breather hose for the catch can installation when I put the head back together. The existing breather hose is in good condition but has a tear at the small hose t-joint where the hose connect to the TB. All I need to do is to find the right spots on the breather hose to splice in the catch can. BTW, I am planning to bypass the coolant to the TB, would it be a problem?

Hello RonXJR, The hoses to my throttle body have been bypassed for a couple of years now. No problem. Used a metal line to connect the two ends together that went under the throttle body.

There are breather hose catch can items on E - bay that others have used that may have different installation piping then the TSB

I just bought a catch can with 19mm ID that matches the breather hose size for my XJR6 on Amazon and it comes with two silicon hoses with bent for $32.
I am in the process of cleaning the mating surfaces for the prep of the new head gasket. I used brake cleaner with brass brush to clean the surface on the head side and it came out great. However, on the engine block side, there are stain marks but smooth to touch, after brake cleaner and brass brush. I am thinking to wet sand to remove the stains with 600 grid paper and brake cleaner... Any recommendations? Thanks.

Hello RonXJR. Right idea, Wrong tool, Use a short piece of a 2 x 4. Six inch's in length. Staple sheet of sandpaper to sides of board and sand the length of block with brake cleaner as your lubricant. Using compressed air, blow out crud from head bolt holes and cylinders. Torque to manufacturers spec and perform 90 degree sweep on head bolts.
