Just making big fun at their "will be running in two weeks" statement.

You have to admit they are not competent at setting expectations.

I double dog dare you/them to have a running car in 2 months.

For me I only want a 12.5 second car, but others who want to compete for top dog status...this will be a serious contender.

This one also has the bottom end built so it should be able to handle 700 hp...

Looking forward to the dynos

What is the Cost of This for a Customer from Start To finish? Lets get this out and above the high tide line...

The removal of the motor, disassembly, parts, put it back together, along with the fabrication? $25,000?

for those that Do not have that kind of loot you can get incredible gains from the following recipe out of these cars and DO IT YOURSELF!

2) Magnaflow cats with mandrel bent down pipes $425.00 (clean up the EGR valve)
1) Borla cat back exhaust $1,000.00 ( or just leave the stock ) really a sound preference IMO. Removal of center muffler running between the center of car will work as well.
1) 3.5" mandrel bent intake from the TB (removing the FLAT 90 and replacing with a Long swept 90, Fabricated an insulated sheet metal box and relocate the Washbottle($300.00 plus $90 for powder coat}
1)3lb pulley and snout rebuild $225.00

You WILL have a differnt car. Sorry for hijacking the thread but for those thinking additional big performance is out of reality. Do the above like I did and you will notice a huge difference..it does not turn it into a 12second car, but almost 13.140 0/

Those simple mods don't add up to "incredible gains", "big performance", "huge difference".

And comparing the above mods to the build in this thread is ludicrous.

These "simple" MODs are impressive to those that do not have the financial ability to drop the down payment for a home on a 14yo car.
They can have for Under $1,000.00 a huge, incredible and it is big performance gain in the low and mid range vs. return on investment and a weekend of time. It is also EASY to do and alot of fun.

I guess after watching Biden being disrespectful to a respectful Ryan last night it has spread to the Jaguar forum??. Seriously man, this is a forum that is to be fun and have opinions. Your rudeness just sucks. Not sure if this VBulletin has the ability to place users on "ignore"?? but if it does, to be sure you will be on it! LOL

Have a Nice

Rlover ( average fella with a 14yo car and wanting to pass along information and an opinion )

I think some pretty cool mods will come out of this which was the point in the first place. There will be things that will be of much interest and won't drain the bank account. The car has been started and now it's on to tuning which will be interesting to see unfold as we all know how finicky these cars are. YES this build is COMPLETELY unnecessary but it sure is fun. I'm anxious to see what she does on the dyno like everyone else!

I'm thinking the stock block could have handled the power... I mean the M5 guys are in this territory on stock NA BMW blocks... and actually BIP built one.

I would strap all this onto a stock car and see what happens

It was the original sleeves that were the problem. they were cracking. Could be just my motor but better to be safe than sorry i say. You should check out Jason's E39 M5, I think it is one you are refering to, it's SICK!

When NASA built the space shuttle, we got kool aid and velcro. (And the WaterDragon is getting fitted for a prototype SCRAMJET pre-cooling intake-some preliminary photos in my albums) So, as Thundercat says, the results of their Herculean efforts will trickle down to us common folk.

When you consider the performance potential of this car finished, and the fact that BIP was giving a considerable price break to Thundercat because this is an investment for them in R&D, I'm sure HE will be happy with the results and think it was worth the cost for him.

Would it be worth duplicating this at their proposed retail is an entirely different question.

That was my point - if you can prove big gains with what you're doing with the oem system, then you gain the title of '$$ per horsepower'.

Looking at the work
*port/polish and flow test heads, min $3000

*rebuild with ARP block inc liners pistons and con-rods, min $6000 (lots of measuring and machining)

*custom headers iro $2,500

*Big dog Whipple kit (inc induction custom fab) min $10,000

*Sundries like custom fuel rail, injectors, fuel pumps, blue tops, intercoolers pipework gaskets etc, lets say $2000

*Diff $1,000

*TCM-ECM programming (piggyback system?) $2-3000
Wheels and brakes $4000

Time, hehe, (the deal breaker)...BIP per hourly rate, let's just say near dealer, $80? $100?
Add 200hrs @ $80 is $16,000.

So, we have a grand total of $47,000...

This is what it would cost me realistically if I walked into that place with my XJR and requested a thundercat type conversion. 'Certainly Sir, now bend over'.....

Now, my point 47000 divided by projected HP gains of 700 (330 over stock) is roughly $142 per HP.

At that money I could gold plate my intercoolers, inside and out.

This is 4 lottery winners. For far less than a quarter of the price I can go get 650HP and have it dyno proofed in 2-3 weeks from order.
