+*+*+Project Crusher by Buckhead Imports Performance, XJR with 2.9 Whipple 700HP+*+*+

That was my point - if you can prove big gains with what you're doing with the oem system, then you gain the title of '$$ per horsepower'.
Looking at the work
*port/polish and flow test heads, min $3000
*rebuild with ARP block inc liners pistons and con-rods, min $6000 (lots of measuring and machining)
*custom headers iro $2,500
*Big dog Whipple kit (inc induction custom fab) min $10,000
*Sundries like custom fuel rail, injectors, fuel pumps, blue tops, intercoolers pipework gaskets etc, lets say $2000
*Diff $1,000
*TCM-ECM programming (piggyback system?) $2-3000
Wheels and brakes $4000
Time, hehe, (the deal breaker)...BIP per hourly rate, let's just say near dealer, $80? $100?
Add 200hrs @ $80 is $16,000.
So, we have a grand total of $47,000...
This is what it would cost me realistically if I walked into that place with my XJR and requested a thundercat type conversion. 'Certainly Sir, now bend over'.....
Now, my point 47000 divided by projected HP gains of 700 (330 over stock) is roughly $142 per HP.
At that money I could gold plate my intercoolers, inside and out.
This is 4 lottery winners. For far less than a quarter of the price I can go get 650HP and have it dyno proofed in 2-3 weeks from order.

I'm sure they could just slap on the Whipple twins screw kit for similar money as you and get the same 650 hp or more.
The built block, headwork, headers etc. is extra and not a must-have in order to install their kit.
And why add tranny/diff stuff, wheels and brakes which have nothing to do with the engine build?
How much did your brakes cost?
Going further, how much would it cost me to walk into a shop and do what you have done to your car? 'Bend over' indeed. You probably did most of the work yourself, but I guess someone could do a BIP type conversion themselves as well.
If you're gonna compare, at least do a fair apples to apples

Steve, got to ask, what are you on about? I roughed out what THIS build would cost a punter. To be honest I was shy on the figures, this would cost over $50k...
I'm going on what TC has posted here on the all the work done to his car, and what the same work would cost anyone else. Yep, trans/diff/wheels/brakes, etc etc it's all in this build. LucKy for TC the time is written off as R&D.
The bare fact is, if YOU took your R to them and spec'd it out to TC's project, that figure of 50k would be your invoice cost, simple.
I think you missed my point (and that is TC stated it'd be a cheaper job than Andre's.......not likely )

I am still waiting to see the car in person as I will be able to compare his car to a car fitted with one of Andre's Twin Screw kits. I think his car is going to be very fast but not nearly as refined as it should be, more like a Hot Rod. The best part of this is that I get to see & drive the car myself.

I am suggesting doing either his complete build vs. your complete build, for example (I'm assuming it would be a pretty penny to duplicate ) or just BIP's twin screw kit vs. Andre's kit.
Since BIP has avoided questions regarding pricing, it's a moot point. Which is understandable since the car is not yet finished.

its always about doing what no one else has, not about best bang for the buck. otherwise a preowned XFR 5litre will bypass the 12's in the qtr and go straight to the high 11's.
I have 3 vehicles that are not best bang for the buck, but are definitly fun and unique
79 El Camino 580cid 1150hp
87 Suburban 383 acell superram with NOS fogger 750hp
soon to be back together 2005 Nissan Frontier with a 470hp(hopefully) Kenne Bell supercharged V6
with all of these I could have BOUGHT faster, nicer cars with the money I have in them. But so can everyone else. And we'res the fun in that Hell the Nissan has cause 2 accidents, gets stares all the time, voted truck of the yr on forums, companies banner ad winner and easily recognised. And it all started cause I needed a small 4x4 truck and then started going on a Nissan offroading forum....
Dont **** on others parades because you could do more for less, thats just not nice
Hell we might as well talk politics for the same testosterone fix as HOW TO BUILD HP

OH and I do all my own work except the machine work and Ive surpased the 22k I spent on the nissan purchase in parts alone. $70k in race car, $45k in Sub, But I pretty much spent that over a 10 yr period on each project, and have all reciepts for each vehicle. I bought the El Camino in 1983, the Sub in 1993 and the Nissan in 05. So I think $50k for that build is pretty realistic. yeah a big chunk of change at one fell swoop. But then its done and enjoyed. Gotta remember that many could never even afford to think about owning a Jaguar, much less modifying it too
And then theres littlle money to be made for modifying a Jaguar and ANY company/ or car owner that even goes into the ring with mods should be applauded because if no one ever goes then theres nothing for those that cannot/wont afford $50k, but can come in somewhere underneath and benefit from those that did
ok Im done

This guy lives high power builds - I learnt to check things with my machine shop from this series. 1000bhp is no joke from 3.2litres...
